Although these films have nothing to do with the story as written are in many ways corny and almost comedy in nature I have loved them since watching them a s a kid on tv 60+ years ago. Watson is played as a bumbling fool, Holmes as a rather arrogant know it all and Inspector Lestrade a total idiot, but it works well, very entertaining and lovable Actors.
I have seen lots of criticism of these films but they are all based on modern standards, you cant compare the two. these movies are 80 years old so make allowances.
