Game Description:

A deep, open world life sim and town building game set in a cozy post-apocalyptic paradise. Restore an old town, sail across a mysterious archipelago, hunt relics and farm, fish & craft everything you need. Can you help turn Critter Cove into a thriving tourist town once again?

The town of Critter Cove used to attract visitors from all over the world. Now it’s mostly known for dirty streets and trash-strewn beaches. Can you help us turn things around?

Critter Cove is a combination life sim and town builder game with a beautiful, handcrafted open world to explore.

ATTRACT TOURISTS TO YOUR ISLAND

Spend your doubloons to upgrade buildings and explore the world to discover new blueprints and gather resources to grow your town. More upgrades will improve Critter Cove’s tourist rating. The greater your tourist rating, the more new tourists will visit. The more new tourists, the more money in your pockets to upgrade the town. Get it? Yep, you totally get it.

EXPLORE A POST-APOCALYPTIC OPEN WORLD

Venture out into the mysterious tropical archipelago peppered with the ruins of a long-destroyed civilization. Dive beneath the waves to salvage the treasures of the old world. Rescue shipwrecked critters. Unearth exotic ingredients. It’s a wondrous world of mysterious ruins, shipwrecks and ancient technology waiting to be discovered.

FORGE UNIQUE ITEMS AND FARM EXOTIC FOODS

As you explore, you’ll find resources to craft hundreds of different items, discover new construction blueprints and bring home unique plants to grow on your farm. Turn mundane salvage into something new and unique, and improve your tourism rating by offering your freshly grown food to visitors.

UPGRADE AND DECORATE YOUR TOWN

Use tourist money and salvaged items to restore rundown buildings and open up entirely new stores and venues for tourists and townsfolk. Craft decorations and interactive objects that will improve the town and make it uniquely yours. You can even decorate your very own home with hand-crafted (or hand-looted) furniture.

BUILD FRIENDSHIP WITH TOWNSFOLK

You’ll need help to restore the town, and luckily the world of Critter Cove is filled with many colorful characters. Some are easy-going and friendly… others might need some convincing! Rescue Critters across the world, assist them in building a home and help them find the perfect job in your community. Their happiness is the key to your success.

HUNT FOR RELICS AND DISCOVER ANCIENT SECRETS

Embark on quests to find hidden treasures or ancient relics scattered throughout the world. Donate these artifacts to the Museum of Mystery to uncover the secrets of the long, long ago – and then charge tourists a small fee to the museum so they can absorb some local culture!

CUSTOMIZE AND PERSONALIZE YOUR CHARACTER

Create your perfect island persona with our robust customization system. Human or animal? Mammal or reptile? The head of a parrot and the tail of a monkey? It’s entirely up to you! Mix and match your physical attributes to your heart’s content and discover that perfect tropical drip with hundreds of outfit combinations to craft and discover.

  1. The vibe of this game gets more wild the deeper you go. Crab murderers, killer cursed karaoke, suicidal high diving sailors, random skeletons under the sea. Is kind of a clash or maybe a gap with the presentation of the rest of the game. Though I guess you're in a post apocalypse with the final authority on who gets to join and stay in your society. There is the cruise ships though, so hard to figure what vibe they're going for.

  2. have some more fun with those minecarts: put a soap box somewhere, and any minecart you get in front of it.
the result is one (or none) critter holding a public speech, and onlookers sitting in minecarts and grinning like morons. so much fun!
you can even stand on the soapbox yourself!

PS: the one place to find sea starfruit is in the under water cave on boomerang bay, with a ship wreck on the end of it. (that part makes me look foward to seeing more subnautica shit in this game)

  3. I put my wood-chopping robot out where all the trees were. I was hopping he would keep the wood picked up. I also agree that they’re loud af. I’m glad I put them all far away from the workshop.

  4. I finally decided to just make a spreadsheet to keep track of each critter’s reactions to furniture, clothing, and food. Their friendship tracker will tell you their likes and dislikes but not the neutral stuff. So I mark down when the reaction is neutral so I can try something else the next time.

I also ended up just looking online to find the food recipes I didn’t know. Experimenting was fun for a while, but eventually I just wanted to know how to make everything.

  5. The furniture store employee will sell you a blueprint for a stone lantern thing that looks pretty nice and actually does put out a nice cool light. I ended up making a lot of them and placing them all over. They’re much better than the street lights. They really light things up nicely.

Also recommend buying the sunglasses stand from the clothing shop employee. You can stock it with sunglasses you make from the recipes they sell. Tourists and Critter Cove residents will buy the sunglasses. Also, the sunglasses have a type for every clothing type so they can be a good way to give someone the right type of clothing if you don’t have that type in stock.

  6. By the way, Keith, another change in this update is to let you access your inventory while cooking. So you don’t have to go put the item in your inventory ahead of time. You can just go to the tab where your food is while you’re cooking, put the items in to cook, and leave the rest in the box it started with.

  7. The Store opening hours are
    Anchor's Port Office: 6am-6pm
    Renard's General Store: 7am-7pm
    Blackwhisker's Cafe: 7am-6pm
    Bait Shop: 7am-6pm
A Stitch In Time Clothing Store: 8am-7pm
    Furniture Store: 9am-8pm
    Royal Museum: 6am-11pm
Workshop: 1am-12:50am (technically it never closes but the 'opening hours' are a joke on Copperbottom being a robot & only needing a 10min recharge every 24hrs)
