Hi guys!! TIME TO JUMP BACK INTO MIDDLE EARTH… With The Hobbit trilogy!! So this is the first movie of the trilogy – The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. It felt weird not having our usual group be the main characters and to be in a different time in Middle Earth but it’s so nice to be back in this universe. I have OPINIONS so wait until the end to hear them!!!! The movie looked like a promising beginning to these films so I’m hopeful!! I know there are strong and differing opinions so no h8 in the comments oki?!

Thank you guys, I hope you’ll join me for this new journey and enjoy it just as much. ❤

  1. It's the blade. An Elvish magical blade … can cut deep with less force required and does not blunt easily.

As for immersion. You watched LOTR first, so it was new and introduced you to the world. You can see the influence of the studio in the 2nd and 3rd films especially- things that felt off because Peter Jackson came into the production late as the new director so he had to stay with many things already designed and planned. The extended versions really did tho make these movies much better however. They are still movies far better than many others released within the same time frame.

You get more dwarf time on a personal basis in the next films. In the book, only a few of the 13 dwarves were even given any dialogue and personality beyond clothing descriptions and names. Jackson and his team had to design the dwarves themselves based on what they felt fit within the world and they did a generally good job for the majority of them.

  2. V, I just noticed on your channel that…. why aren't you making reaction videos on Stranger Things? Season 5 will come out on 2024 (hopefully) I wish you could watch it from season 1 up to 4.

  3. Tolkien wrote and worked on the The Silmarillion, all of the various Middle-Earth histories, and The Lord of the Rings many years before he began writing, The Hobbit, which was his first published hit. It was only after the massive success of, The Hobbit, that Lord of the Rings (1954) and The Silmarillion (1977) were published.

  4. The first movie was good yes, but as more here have said, the following two are just not up to scratch in my opinion. To much have been added and changed for it to feel right. The love story is just one of the worst but there's a lot of weird and unnecessary things that could have been left out and others that I missed.

The one thing in this movie that bothered me most was the stupid food fight at Rivendell and the dwarfs skinny dipping in the fountain. NO dwarf with an ounce of dignity would EVER have done such an embarrassing thing in front of the elves.
They also took away all glory from Bilbo in this trilogy. He did a lot of brave stuff, saving the dwarfs, standing up to the dragon and other stuff but hey presto, the dwarfs came running to "save the day" every time and took away Bilbos moment to shine as he is doing in the book. That's how he grew as a person and found his courage and became the excellent Hobbit he is.

  5. Hey VKunia! So, if you'd want to watch something that puts Orcs into a better light (or rather shows not all of them are bloodthirsty) the only movie I can think of would be the Warcraft movie!

  6. I like the Hobbit movies and they do have good aspects to them. The actors are great and it's amazing to see Ian McKellen/Gandalf, Christopher Lee/Saruman in their roles again. But I also know that they are mostly a Warner Bros. corporate grab, hence the lower quality, overuse of CGI, and lack of soul put into it. Also what feels off is the inconsistent tone and unrealistic action that draws you out of the scene. They didn't get that balance right and so the movies bounce between melodramatic or 'WTF is happening' ridiculous. In my opinion they're not as bad as the Star Wars sequels, but they definitely were warning signs for what happens when corporations get the rights to beloved series.

  7. I was introduced to The Hobbit by my 5th grade English teacher. She read a couple chapters to the class. I loved it and read the rest of the book. It was my first introduction to Fantasy. It just happens Star Wars was released the summer between 4th & 5th grade. Been reading Sci-Fi & Fantasy since.

  8. The 3 trolls are the same ones in Fellowship. The ones that Sam talked about on their way to save Frodo after getting stabbed.

    Everyone: 3 Movies! WTF!!!
    Me: Cool!

Peter Jackson lost the rights to the franchise after the 3rd movie was released. So I can see why he did a trilogy and added alot of things that were not in the original.

  9. In high school I had this book on my summer reading list. I looked at it and thought "This is way too short, they must've made a mistake and meant the first book of LotR" so I read that. I was wrong and got an F.

  10. C.S. Lewis (who wrote the Chronicles of Narnia about 15 years later) was the guy who kept encouraging Tolkien to finish and publish the Hobbit. His private review to their circle of friends was that Tolkien had "Finally done it! He's written a book that wish we all could have read when we were children!" And he predicted it might just well become a classic.

  11. I read the LOTR books and watched the trilogy a couple of times. I didn't read the book Hobbit but I watched the trilogy multiple times. For me the Hobbit trilogy is better. I don't know why, maybe just because I like road movies and this is very close to their structure. Anyhow, I enjoy this more.

  12. it wasnt a lucky shot that the ring happen to find itself onto Bilbos finger, or even fell out of Smeagol's pocket, remember the ring has a will of its own, and it had been with Smeagol for 500 years so the ring most likely wanted to get out of that cave 🙂

  14. Don't care how anybody else feels about this trilogy, i really enjoyed them, i've watched them quite a few times with my family. I heard there was a bit of a messy production to these though, and that peter jackson was called din at the last minute after other people quit.

  15. I will just say I'm not a fan of The Hobbit movies. It is cool if people like them but they aren't on the same level as Lord of the Rings. Not enough practical effects and some things are just way over the top

  16. 'The Hobbit' is basically a children's book.
It should've been one movie, but got stretched out into three.
Also Tauriel isn't in the book, nor does Legolas make an appearance.

  17. We've seen Hobbits go toe to toe with Orcs other than Bilbo. Merry, Pippin and Sam all fought orcs in Moria. In Return of the King Sam fought a fair few in Mordor in the tower. Merry fought some at the battle outside Minas Tritith.

They might be the smallest but they can fight. I think it just depends on the individual hobbit, Frodo wasn't really one for fighting. He doesn't kill anyone in all 3 movies apart from Gollum.

I wouldn't think they'd be able to fight Uruk Hai they're bigger than average men, Merry and Pippin got dragged away by them pretty easily at the end of Fellowship of the Ring.
