  3. This was actually one of the few video game movies I think is good. Might not be a perfect copy of the original, but it was my introduction to the "Silent Hill"franchise.

    The music is lifted straight from the games and I really love the monsters in this(especially guilt manifestation monstrosity Pyramidhead).

    For the ending, we can suggest that both Rose and Sharon died in the crash at the beginning, same as Cybil. They went to the "mist world"(purgatory)and the Otherworld is hell.

    I warn you, out of love for your reactions, do NOT watch "Silent Hill Revelations". It is awful, was at the time that the movies were all doing that 3D/RealD thing and it retcons most of this movie to fit with the game "Silent Hill 3"and it just doesn't work. This is the closest thing to a perfect game movie. Just saying.

  4. I love this movie! Sorry I know you were scared, but you reacting to Pyramid Head had me geeked out.
    The games are fantastic and have much richer story and characters. But this was still a great adaption.

  5. Dark Alissa is in fact the dark god of that reality and Alissa was in fact cut into two and when that happened she longed to become one again. Yes the mother is dead but it's more complexed than just that. Silent hill is in a different reality you got that part correct, Not a fan of the sequal but it does explian a bit more about the story though I wish they used Jodelle in the sequal as well because I love her as an actress. Also off topic if you want to see another good one with her then check out the movie Case 39 with she was creepy as hell in that one too. Grate reaction and not sure why they chose this one cause it is as you saw highly gory and yet I still love this movie none the less.

  21. I'm so happy you reacted to this movie, it's based on a videogame of the same name from 1999 with many more games following it up until nowadays. I've been a fan of this series since getting my first playstation in 2001, and when I first saw this movie I adored it, and it's still one of my favorite horror movies ever. It recreated the dark, foggy, and isolating atmosphere of the games really well, the music was perfectly used, and the acting was amazing (kudos specially to Sharon/Alessa/The Dark One, and to Cybil).
    The plot deviated a bit from the original source, but it is understandable since they had to condense and readapt it for the movie length, and make it easier to understand for a wider audience. In the end it is implied Rose and Sharon remained in the fog world, a sort of limbo, due to Rose helping the dark one and Sharon being possessed by it.
    This movie definitely is one of the better videogame adaptions out there and it has aged remarkably well. With that said, do NOT waste your time watching the sequel hahaha, it has a few good moments but overall it's neither a good movie nor a good continuation of this story.

  22. Silent Hill, the city, is based on an actual place. Centralia, PA – the coal mine caught fire, it is over 3,700 acres that used to be below businesses, schools and homes. The fire will burn for 300-340 more years. The buildings have all been destroyed, as has any direct vehicle access (there are still a few ways to drive through on back roads). They had a large chunk of highway leading in that was closed off, people used to park their cars, bikes, 4-wheelers there and used the road as a piece of art. They called it “graffiti highway” it was truly beautiful, and led right into Centralia. Two years ago, someone at the state made the decision to cut off even that walk in access. They dumped hundreds of piles of dirt all over graffiti highway, now it is just a beautiful memory.

  25. Silent hill is a real place but is actually Centralia, Pennsylvania. In May 1962, the city ordered to have the local landfill burned in an attempt to clean up the waste. The fire spread through unsealed tunnels and openings that led to an abandoned coal mine. This, ignited a fire that burns to this day and is why Centralia became a Silent Hill Pennsylvania-based inspiration for the video game.

  26. Great reaction and could see you were scared & freaked a bit, which was it's goal. I think this movie ages better over time even as a Silent Hill fan. At release it was good but also annoying how far it deviated from the games plot. However it's a good adaptation really as a movie, because really it shouldn't just be a lazy rehash of the exact game.

    Also I realise now it's better than many movie adaptations since it's release, the plot dump near the end still isn't the best way they could have done it but still a good spirited horror.

  28. I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH. It's such a beautifully told story, even if told through gruesome gore, monsters, and terror.
    My favorite quote from this movie is "Mother is God in the eyes of a child."

    I especially loved the Directors choices too, many of the scenes of her running through the damned town were very reminiscent of how cameras in video games work, it was a great homage to the video games this movie is based off of.

    And then the ending of them being together in there home and yet not being home. Both a metaphor for moving forward through trauma and grief, but also just being a visceral and somber ending.

  29. Oh Kemi, you brave woman! I wish you watched this with someone or on Live chat… this is not a movie to watch alone..I love horror movies but Silent Hill was too gruesome and torturous for me. I couldn’t watch it again. A real nightmare if I ever had one. But I’m here now watching your reaction to support you!!! Go girl!
