Brother Bear Movie Description:

Kenai (Joaquin Phoenix) is a young Indian brave with a particular distaste for bears. When his brother Sitka (D.B. Sweeney) is killed by one, Kenai in turn kills the bear, only to be magically transformed into one himself. To make matters worse, his other brother Denahi (Jason Raize) vows to kill the bear Kenai has become. Kenai’s only hope is a magical mountain where he believes he can be changed back to a human, and he enlists a real bear cub, Koda, to get him there.

Brother Bear is a 2003 American animated musical fantasy comedy-drama film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The 44th Disney animated feature film, it was directed by Aaron Blaise and Robert Walker (in their feature directorial debuts) and produced by Chuck Williams, from a screenplay written by Tab Murphy, Lorne Cameron, David Hoselton, and the writing team of Steve Bencich and Ron J. Friedman. The film stars the voices of Joaquin Phoenix, Jeremy Suarez, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Jason Raize (in his only film role), and D.B. Sweeney. Brother Bear follows an Alaska native boy named Kenai as he pursues a bear and kills it, but the Spirits, incensed by this unnecessary death, change Kenai into a bear himself as punishment.[3] In order to be human again, Kenai must travel to a mountain where the Northern lights touch the earth.

The film was the third and final Disney animated feature produced primarily by the Feature Animation studio at Disney-MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida; the studio was shut down in March 2004, not long after the release of this film in favor of computer animated features. The film, which was released in the United States on November 1, 2003, received mixed reviews from critics and received a nomination for Best Animated Feature at the 76th Academy Awards, losing to Pixar’s Finding Nemo. The film grossed $250 million against a $46 million budget. A direct-to-video sequel, Brother Bear 2, was released on August 29, 2006.

  1. "A bear can climb a tree"
Fun fact: Only cubs can climb trees. It's necessary to stay away from ground-borne predators. They lose the ability right about the time they weigh 600 lbs. After that, if the bear wants it bad enough, it'll just knock the tree down.

  2. That end credit thing was making fun of how often you have that in movies, I remember seeing a river runs through if and they specificly said, "No fish were harmed in the making of this movie." like DUDE you were going down a river in kayak's and such who knows how many fish you brained.

  3. 10:38 growing up, I could never place why I liked this movie so much. But, now that I’m older, I get it. I, too, am an eldest sibling. If I had lost my siblings to the same cause, I’d be out for blood like Denahi (assuming I wasn’t there to lay down my life like Sitka, cause that’s my first choice). Denahi truly thinks he’s lost his brothers, he’s grieving and hurt and filled with anger. He isn’t a bad person, he isn’t evil, he’s just a grieving brother with a vendetta against the thing that took his brothers away. He’s the “antagonist” but he isn’t a bad person, which isn’t all too common in storytelling.

  4. The first transformation scene was the first time I was awestruck by the power of animation the music with the visuals still match perfectly to this day. My favorite Phil Collins song would have to be no way out from this movie.

  5. My totem would be an animal that represents patience and resilience. Or an animal that's observant and sees what others might not 🤷🏻.. interesting now I'm gonna think about it all day
