  1. I actually prefer these cakes without the icing/frosting or just a very thin spread on top, as it is too sweet for me. My daughter is the opposite. She likes to have double the frosting on top and on the sides & in between the layers of either a 2 or 3 layer cake.
    Now you need to try all the different flavors – regular chocolate, French vanilla, strawberry, lemon, orange, triple chocolate fudge, rainbow chip, German chocolate, cherry chip, "red velvet", butter pecan, pineapple, spice & carrot cake. 😋
    Betty Crocker & Duncan Hines are my two favorite brands of packaged cake mix.

  2. Those yellow cake mixes make superb fruit upside down cake. Canned pineapple or stewed canned peaches are my preferences but I imagine any fruit would work and in my opinion fruit upside down cakes, especially with added pecans and or walnuts and or coconut, are far better than icing anyway.
    Watch out for bioengineered ingredients though, some brands have them others don't, but most American yellow cake mixes make roughly the same flavor/product regardless of brand.

  3. Fun Fact About Betty Crocker From General Mills:In late October 1921, an edition of The Saturday Evening Post was published with a unique Gold Medal Flour ad in it.
    The ad asked consumers to complete a jigsaw puzzle and mail it to our predecessor company, Washburn-Crosby in Minneapolis(General Mills Was Originally A Milling Company) Minnesota. In return, they would receive a pincushion in the shape of a bag of flour.
    Along with 30,000 completed puzzles came several hundred letters with cooking-related questions.In a stroke of marketing genius, the company’s Advertising Department convinced its board of directors to create a personality that the women answering the letters could all use in their replies.
    The surname Crocker was chosen in honor of a retired executive, William G. Crocker. Betty was chosen because of its friendly sound.
    An informal contest was held between female employees to find the most distinctive Betty Crocker signature. Florence Lindberg’s version was chosen. It’s still used today, with only slight revisions.
    Its Competitor Cake Mix Duncan Hines Was An Actual Person Named Duncan Hines.

Okay y'all here's a recipe it's called the three box poke cake… you need 1box of super moist vanilla cake … Make it then coolin the pan… poke the cake with a fork …mix 1box fruit of choose gelatine with one can of matching fruit soda ..pour over cake… Mix I box jello vanilla pudding mix with one tub cool whip or any other non dairy whipped topping ice cake white that and refidgerate overnight…cut and serve… Summer Cake

  5. Carol, rounds are cake pans that are literally round rather than square. Those are how you get the perfect "round" cake like a birthday cake. You do two rounds so you can put frosting in between the two layers. You can use the square pans also, you just won't have a round cake! No problem. If you look close at the baking instructions, it will often mention the 9 inch rounds or a larger standard rectangle pan like a 9X13 inch. That is how we make our "sheet" cakes. For future cakes, if you want to for go the "sugar frosting" you can make an incredible frosting out of 3 or 4 cups of cool whip or whipped cream and one large package of Jello mix. You simply pour the jello dry pack into the cool whip and mix together and frost the cake immediately. You can put it in the fridge to help the frosting set up and it is amazing! We prefer to eat our cakes with the jello frosting as it is not as sickly sweet.

  6. Round cake pans. You had square ones. They are standard cake pans. You can buy round ones. You put icing in between the layers and then also the outside of the cake Just like the picture on the box. 10:28

U could make a strawberry shortcake & slice the cake in half & add sliced strawberries with it's natural juice & put a layer of whip cream on top or add 2nd layer or just pour strawberries & strawberry juice on cake with whip cream on top of that. The US has these premade spongecake mini tart cups u can buy a package of 6 or 8 & my mom filled them up with strawberries & used cool whip on top as a quick dessert for us growing up & we loved it.
    Put a frw round cake pans or baking set on ur wish list so ur subscribers can get u the right tools u need to bake & cook with.
    U both did such a wonderful job & ur so entertaining even though the cake seemed to be a little dry which frosting or berries & whip cream would have helped with that. Maybe they can send u some more containers of frosting/icing . Maybe keep some canned fruit on hand like peaches, pineapple, blackberries, etc… with the juice to use if u don't have any fresh strawberries 🍓🍑🍍🍐🍎🍏🥭🍊🍒🫐🍫🍦🍰❤😃 love u all.

  8. Oh I love Carol’s eye makeup here! And the typical store bought icing for these cakes is sooo sweet. A lot of people here scrape off the icing because it is so sweet, y’all might not have liked it very much anyway.

  9. Hi from another Carol! A wonderful not a baking show! I like the idea of just baking the cake in the 9 inch square pan for thicker piece of cake. Since vanilla cake is one of my favorites, I will sprinkle the top of the cake with sugar mixed with cinnamon or sugar with ground ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon before baking the cake. That way it adds a little flavor surprise and no need for a frosting or glaze.
