  1. Went to several of Charlie's shows through the years. He always put on a great performance. And I've heard him play ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL where he'd wear that fiddle out so hard he'd have to change bows cause he broke most of the strings on the bow. Great musician. Great man.

  2. My ex father in law played the fiddle in a band. I asked him once the difference between a fiddle and a violin. His answer was simple. He said, "If you listen closely, you will hear a fiddle is generally played with 2 chords at the same time and most times, a violin plays only one chord at a time."

  3. yeah, back in the day we used a simple bic lighter, or a match, or perhaps even a book of matches, to show our appreciation. nowadays its cell phones. kinda annoying to me. why in the hell do you need to prove you were there via cell phone pics. enjoy life. no need to show others. just sayin'.

  7. You two really should check out his song "Uneasy Rider". Just please do not do a live version. Live versions just can't be produced as well usually, of course there are exceptions but it's best to listen to the studio version so you hear what the artist really intended. You can always go back and follow up with a live version like you guys did with this one. One live version I recommend is Black Oak Arkansas "Jim Dandy". Really good reproduction of the studio version plus you get to see where David Lee Roth of Van Halen got his inspiration as a front man from.

  8. FYI Charlie's (RIP 2020) song was influenced by Bluegrass Fiddler Vassar Clements original "Lonesome Fiddle Blues". Having said that Charlie did a super job on this song. BTW if you want a fun cover on this tune, listen to Leo Moracchioli's version. Pretty good, and with a metal flavor.

  10. The key difference between a violin and a fiddle has to do with how they are held by the performer. Compare how Charlie Daniels holds his instrument to how Lindsey Sterling holds hers.

  11. Interesting note: there were two versions of this song released in 1979. The album and live versions have "you son of a b*tch" , but radio stations would not play it because that was a swear word back then and the FCC wouldn't allow it. CDB then released a radio version of the song with "you son of a gun" in order for the song to get air time. I remember my parents confiscated the album when I bought it because of the "swear" words. Today that phrase is commonplace.
