I love when you smile/smirk π
Highly recommend Phil's "Another Day in Paradise" and the original video is quite powerful
You listened to In The Air Tonight, do you think this is better or that?
I remember watching the film this was attached to, pretty good.
Totally agree with your reaction Boyd β€ there is a chance that she will turn and see because against all odds you are waiting when all you can do is hope and pray you will see that face again π
He is an amazing songwriter – he wrote this so I think that's why there is much more expression of emotion
He has quite an impressive catalog by himself, he also did amazing as the lead in Genesis i would dive into them as well. He also did the Disney soundtrack for Tarzan. "You'll be in my heart"always brings emotional feelings for me.
I always thought he was good at writing songs from a mature perspective, not too hyperbolic, just enough to get the emotion across.i recommend the song by him I Wish it Would Rain Down it's a similar sentiment and Eric Clapton on guitar features in the studio version
This was the perfect crying out a breakup song when I was young.
This song was used in the 1984 movie by the same name.
My favorite Phill Collins song from the movie soundtrack of the same name.
Rain Down on Me is a good one.
One of the greatest songs and strangest chord progressions of all time.
He's familiar because you reacted to his live performance of "In the Air Tonight", the song with the iconic drum break that was used in Miami Vice. You were on point with it sounding like the eighties, because the song was written for the soundtrack of the 1984 movie "Against All Odds" from a song Collins had started in 1981 but hadn't finished. It was nominated for several awards, including an Oscar (won by Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You" and a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance – Male, which it won.
You might enjoy his "One More Night" or "Easy Lover" from the same timeframe.
with out any doubt… my favorite music artist of all time πΌπ
Great Reaction, as Always!! I love this tune and many others of Mr. Collins! One that makes his vocals ascend to new heights is the studio version of a Genesis song, "Home by the Sea!" A personal favorite of mine! I believe YOU would "Enjoy it Thoroughly!" Just saying.
"Easy listening" is a perfect way to describe Phil's voice. Silky smooth tone and conveys so much emotion with everything his voice touches.
Do you remember by Phil Collins, very good tune
Europe, the final countdown is a great song.
Said Collins: "That song was written during my first divorce. My first wife and the kids had gone and I was left there. The song was written out of experience as opposed to a 'what if' song. If that personal stuff had not happened to me at the time, I probably would never have made an album, and if I was to have made an album eventually, it probably would have been a jazz/rock thing. Without that stuff I wouldn't have felt the stuff I felt sitting at a piano night after night, day after day writing stuff." Peace out.
Iβve always loved this song. Phil is the best. You can feel it. Great reaction. I agree itβs not the same when someone covers it, it makes it seem overdone.
I really despise the "overdressing" you're talking about…I feel like it's desperation and 99% of the times takes away from everything that made the song great in the first place. You've definitely heard Phil before, I've commented on it and listed a ton of songs to look into lol Both as a solo artist and as part of Genesis. All the other reaction channels are doing "I Don't Care Anymore" right now. The catalog is so huge, and all of it brilliant.
I recorded this off HBO back in the day, and wore out that VHS tape. Bought the VHS when that came out, and then wore that out. He took this down a key or more on later tours given all the high notes, so I think this is the best live version that comes closet to capturing the feel of the original. But all the songs on this concert special are amazing. Reaction or no reaction videos, I hope you find time to check the whole thing out. Amazing performance. My favorite live In the Air Tonight as well.
