  1. This album was so good and such a hot seller with almost every song a hit being played on the radios , nobody would’ve ever thought back in ‘79 that he would actually release an album after this one that was even better and more legendary…..

  2. Believe it or not, this was Michael's 5th album but it was the first one that, as BJ said, was produced by Quincy Jones which really launched his popularity as a solo artist. This album also had Rock With You, Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, She's Out of My Life, and Workin' Day and Night but all the songs are fabulous!

  3. This album preceeded THRILLER and sold very well. You want something more robust listen to WORKING DAY AND NIGHT. For more pop music there is ROCK WITH YOU.
This record was played on radio, parties, nightclubs, and Studio 54, all day and all night. But you must also checkout the Jackson 5ive glide across the dance floor with SHAKE YOUR BODY (DOWN TO THE GROUND). Enjoy

  4. Freshman in college when this album hit the clubs. It was everywhere for about 2 yrs. Imho, his best album, post Jackson 5. This was the album that cemented his solo credentials. Thriller, #2. 👈😉

  5. Jermaine Jackson had done a solo album about 3 years earlier. Just when the whole Jackson family was leaving Motown and moving to Philadelphia International.
Norman Harris produced and several of the former members of MFSB played on it. But Gordy Berry never released it (possibly out of spite?) and Kenny Gamble never wanted any competition for the Jacksons album on PIR. Tunes from that album can be found here on You Tube. It was eventually released in the UK.

  7. Asia, you gotta listen to the whole Off the Wall album. a lot of my musichead friends/loved ones prefer it over Thriller. I don't choose when it comes to MJ, he has something to offer me every album lol.

  8. Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5or him solo or the years they were just The Jackson never released a bad album. They are and will always be Top Class Act Ever!!! Nobody put on a show and sings like them. Damn shame I never got to see them live cause this would have been the album I would have like to have seen them on. I like this better than The Thriller album because it was the beginning of him creating with Quincy Jones something that was going to turn heads and say damn how many hits is Michael going to have on the radio. This album got him his first Grammy best R&B Vocal Performance, Male at the 22nd Grammys.
