when they came out I had a big crush on Agnetha
One of my good friends said his mom used to blast this record and dance every day while she vacuumed , she passed away and he said this is one of his favorite memories of her jsut seeeing his mom dancing around the house smiling and singing this song while vacuuming. The visual is great. Lol love it

Dancing Queen maybe is their most popular song but 'Fernando' is their best selling single with more than 10 million pieces sold. As you didn't react to a song with Frida in lead until now I recommend this one for the next reaction.

I still remember when I first heard this song – they performed it on TV for the very first time, during a concert for the Swedish King and his future bride (they were to get married a few days later). EVERYONE who heard it knew that this song would be a HUGE hit.

This is layers and layers of instruments and vocals.. and only the vocal loop spans 3 octaves. (Also note how they don't use cymbals in this one). Abba magic.
I haven't been to a wedding in the last 30 years or so where the DJ did NOT play this song . . . and usually the bride and bridesmaids immediately run out on the dance floor together as soon as they hear the opening glissando. It is just a fun "girlfriends" song.

Years ago i read that the blonde girl was born in one of the many vbreeding centers" that the Nazi's had in several countries over there. Nazi & SD soldiers impregnated non Jewish women to create the Aryan master race. At the end of the war most of the children were abandonned & treated cruelly. Obviously she was one of the lucky ones. And obviously it was a successful genetic match.
There's a great scene in 'Muriel's Wedding" where Muriel & her friend pantomine 'dancing queen' in a talent contest while on a tropical vacation. The clip is on yt, it's a funny scene.
This song is easily in the top 5 disco songs of all time quite possibly number one next to staying alive and Saturday night fever long story short this song. Made them a whole lot money

What always fascinates me about this song is this 2-part chorus… "you are the dancing queen, young and sweet…" and then they top it off with "You can dance, You can jive, Having the time of your life…" Really brilliant.
I understand why this is considered such a good song and i also think that however it has never been a favorite Abba song for me. I like Chiquitita and Fernando best i would say but their catalogue is huge so wherever you go you cant relly go wrong. <3
Back in the day, the “cool crowd” wanted nothing to do with ABBA. They would snort that they were too commercial and of course they were but they totally ignored the fact that the music was bloody fantastic. Those girls had great voices and the two guys knew how to craft a tune. The fact that the girls were drop dead gorgeous and the two guys very handsome didn’t hurt either.
The instrumentation is so good, always love the piano or electric piano that Benny played, always attracted me when I lisent Abba music, love the harmonies and love when both women sing together, both are great singers but that unique sound of both voices is an Abba sound. And I love that the autfits are totaly 70s, and their looks too, Benny and Bjørn hair
