First Look at SUBMARINE COMBAT in Foxhole | Foxhole Naval Warfare Update

Foxhole’s newest update, Naval Warfare, is scheduled to drop on October 26th, and I had the chance to check out all the new combat ships. Here is our first attempt at sailing and hunting an enemy ship with the Warden Sub!

  1. The fog of war is going to be insane as a gunner because all you do is shoot. You don't know what you're aimed at or if it's it's hit until your commander tells you if it hit or not

  2. I wish they would add a "test" mode. Where you could get used to new features without having to use time/resources building them in the live war. Otherwise people would have to waste days of irl time trying to build these ships only to lose them while just learning the basics.

  4. so… the idea is that submarines will sneak around patrols to hit backline supply or intercept naval invasions , they will need quite the investiment , i don't think you want to go back once you are over the enemy line

  5. This update looks awesome. The only issue I can see is not having enough players to really take advantage of having a full navy. You need to have multiple players per ship multiple people per sub all taking away from the ground forces. With Navies being a thing now though I really hope they bring in the airforce as well.

  6. Pretty sure Front ballast should be kept empty in standard operation conditions, using stern planes ONLY to control diving and surfacing outside of emergencies, and the rear ballast kept fully flooded to be adjusted based on how flooded the interior of the sub is.

Basically: Empty front, Full aft. Main filled just enough to where you can use the stern planes to dive or surface without having to touch the ballasts.
If you take a hit and take on water? Dive officer head to the rear and adjust the aft ballast to keep things balanced.
If you're on the surface and the Captain calls for an IMMEDIATE DIVE, fill front ballast to crash dive. This could honestly be the double duty of someone stationed in the front, that way Dive officer can remain focused on the main ballast and any aft adjustments, just gotta remember to blow the front ballast after reaching good dept to avoid getting past crush depth.
If you're below water and Captain calls for emergency surfacing, blow the aft ballast fully.

Going to be interesting to see how players that normally have a ''I'll do everything myself'' mentality will fare with these vessels that require roles to be more dedicated to avoid control conflicts, like when the gunner just switched the engines around on his own causing the sub to come to a stop right in front of the destroyer and taking multiple depth charges. Though, to be fair, most of the crew were dead at that point.

Edit: Yeah, if you look through the video you'll notice that they drain over 50% of the battery trying to use all the ballasts to dive and surface, with no adjustments of the stern planes at all. (Stern planes look to be controlled by the dive officer on the main ballast control station.

  8. Tbh, I think subs, destroyers, and gunships would be way more used in normal battles as they are cheaper, this is why I think colonial actually have cheaper bombardment ships (destroyer) while the subs are more partisan-like. I think BB would be literally like the dreadnoughts in WW1 where everyone see em as precious and only dare to use them once or twice in a gigantic battle.
