I played Elden Ring now for 20-30 hours and I’d like to sit down and talk about my experiences with the game: the positives, the negatives, the popular criticisms.

combat is worst combat in a video ive ever seen as i expected still decent game
I've got 30hrs in so far and I have to say this is by far the best one yet. I've played every souls-born game since demon souls. The open world aspect is awesome for those crying about the difficulty allow me to give you the ancient wisdom- GIT GUD SCRUBS
nice
In my opinion, I feel like it's totally fine if a game isn't for everybody. It's for the people the devs are catering to; The people who love SUFFERING. 💪😤
It's something anybody can play (if they put in the effort), but not something everyone WANTS to struggle to beat, which is O K A Y.
To those who have been review bombing FromSoft though, that is incredibly petty, and to say the game is bad because not everyone wants to stick it out is unfair.
It's still an incredible game, worth the hype and wait, even with it's got a few flaws here and there.
So when is the King's Field playthrough Kappa
Did a summon for a Npc w an axe n summoned wolves did Margit first try
Beat the game as a sorc, everything 1 shotted me from start to finish. No complaints thats how it should be!
I have a 3090, 32 core Threadripper, and I had REALLY bad frame rate issues in the open world. Especially when I would engage Tree Sentinel. To fix it I did a few things.
1) Change my core count with Ryzen Master from 32 cores at 3.0 to 8 cores at 4.0
2) Go in Steam > Right Click Elden Ring > Properties > General > And in the blank space for "Launch Options" copy/paste this in there: -high -USEALLAVAILABLECORES
3) NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings Tab > Select/ locate Elden Ring > and change these settings:
"Cuda – GPUs: Use Global (All) or manually select your GPU(s)"
"Monitor Technology: G-SYNC Compatible (if you have a G-Sync/ Freesync monitor, look online for more information on that and how to enable it in the first place"
"Power management mode: Prefer maximum performance"
"Preferred refresh rate: Highest available"
"Threaded optimization: On"
"Vertical sync: Use the 3D application setting"
It's annoying that you have to optimize all these settings manually, but doing this made Elden Ring barely drop in frames. I play at Max graphic settings at 2560 x 1440.
I think margit's sole goal was to tell all the dark souls players: No… this is NOT in fact a dumbed down experience…
I never played these kinds of games before but I loved the challenge just as much as anyone.
Agreed. People who are new to the game and going for Margit from the get go is the biggest mistake you can make.
3090 here, you'd be wrong lol
gratz on 1 million
listening to this at 3 am high as fuck thinking there's a dog barking outside confused to fuck
Wait until you fight dragonkin of nokstella or death bird… Best fights ever. Not because of mechanics (those are pretty incredible too) but because of the pure intimidating and horrifying aesthetic they have.
I heard you say on stream "play it like an mmo and not like a souls game" best advice i've heard so far when approaching Elden RIng.
I agree with pretty much everything you said, I also find this much much easier to play solo
For any new players to Souls reading this, please explore! Elden Ring gives you the tools to overcome any obstacle. If you are bashing your head against a wall, then just go somewhere else. You can always come back when you are a higher level and have a better weapon. Also don't be afraid to use summons, they can be very helpful.
One critical thing that you NEED to do is keep your weapon upgraded to the max you can. Doing this will make your time with the game so much more enjoyable.
Also don't be afraid to look things up, Souls game can be tricky to navigate, particularly this one. There is no shame in needing a nudge in the right direction.
If you weren't supposed to use summons they wouldn't be available to use, that's the bottom line.
Margit is cheese if you have magic, spirits, and summon Rogier. If you encounter Margit early, it's a good opportunity to step away and horsey around the map a bit. Level up, discover new items and gear, etc, etc. Then come back and have a go. I see what Asmon is saying, and I'm probably shoulder shrug to it because I know what souls games are like. But he's right. If this is your first souls game, you'll get pissed off if you face Margit too early and don't know what you're doing. I personally love it. Because I know it is achievable. But you don't get any favours done to you. This game is brutally unforgiving. And I think the wider audience is WAY TOO USED TO BEING BABYSAT.
