why was the big saviour coalition just waiting watching the slavers abuse the slaves, not doing anything until some random humans crash land and take action? I bailed out half way, just wasn't digging this one.

Sounds like evil white man trope and stuff is waaay to poorly connected, the plot is so basic that not even Disney would try to steal it and there is no real connection to be made with characters that are too bland to care for
