Fireworks Assisted By Drones – July 01, 2023

A festival of light’s covered the skies above Warner Park Sunday as the Madison Mallards celebrated July 4 with a drone and fireworks show.

The show, a first of its kind for Madison, featured over 150 drones and coordinated fireworks.

Fans were able to vote on the theme for the show, with options including Star Wars, Harry Potter or Marvel. However, it was a local theme that won out, with images of Wisconsin, the Madison isthmus and the Mallards logo appearing in the sky.

Drone shows are aerial displays that use a fleet of drones —each fitted with brilliant LED lights— to create patterns, shapes and animated sceces in the sky. An alternative to traditional fireworks, the drones offer a customizable form of entertainment, according the drone company Sky Elements.
