A few weeks ago it finally hit me, “I’ve had the Fire-Bellied Toads for almost 12 years!” I wanted to talk about them again and as I went through everything to do a proper update/retrospective, I completely underestimated how much of a role they’ve played in the growth of my craft.
I also didn’t realize I made one of the saddest video on my channel until I got done watching the final edit. It was not my intention at least. No joke, this one got me in the feels. These toads have been with me for a third of my life, in four of the five houses I’ve lived in, and much more. Additionally, seeing the journey of my hobby outlined to this extent is weird to say the least. I have so much appreciation for these toads and the joy they’ve brought me over the years is priceless.

What do you feed the frogs?
Fire belly toads are escape artists bread with A-holes.
Mine would find ways into EVERYTHING they were not supposed to be. I’d find them behind walls, under fake islands, and in any other place that had no openings but they found a way in forcing to repeatedly brake their beautiful homes that took so long to make and repair.
The way you tied it together with the spider wood makes it hard to tell there are separate islands in the back besides in the water. Super cool 😎
where can you order them at? I used to see them at my local pet stores and petsmarts and now I NEVER see them. Always been one of my favorite critters to keep.

The original Paludarium was actually the first video of yours I ever watched way back in 2020 and what got me into Paludariums. Even though it's only been 3 years, it's really nostalgic to remember high school me dreaming of making Paludariums as cool as that one.
They are good friends who I can see often in spring. 😊
Why haven't the toads bread during all this time?
The real habitat is Sandy, like a roadpole. A hole in the roadpole from tires. The toad is a Pioneer. At building sites and industrial area is this toad Often seen. New places, without old vegitation or a jungle.
The tuingereedschap that's troubles me, is hoe does the toad knows where the new building sites are and hoe does IT het there.
Love your setup!!! I need some advice please. I finally decided to make my first paludarium but now debating on the tank. I really love the exo terra frog terrarium which has the drainage built in on the bottom but it's only 18/18/24 and kind of small. What do you think? The bottom built in drainage is all worthy it?
If I go with the bigger tank for more space, is it worthy to buy a bigger eco terra tank or just get a 40 gallons fish tank for more space?
