    6:07:10 Episode Ends

The in-game start date for the episode was not technically in the year 0, as I believe the dates count from the defeat of the Betrayers, rather than their release.

Next week I will be starting at a new job, working in a lab to develop new carbon-neutral aviation fuel and water desalination technologies, fighting in my own small way against the Calamity of our own world. I almost let my dream job pass me by while I focused on my everyday grind, and I just wanted to remind everyone that you deserve to spend your time doing work that matters to you, and that to hope and strive and fight together against the end is the only rational course in the face of the apocalypse. And don’t worry, I intend to still post these timestamps for the foreseeable future.

Any moments I missed? Feel free to post them here. Is it Thursday yet?

  2. This is the greatest game ever made, and one of the greatest stories ever told- and I can genuinely say, as cheesy as it may sound, that I am grateful that I got to live in the time with these people, you all, and Critical Role. <3

  3. Finally got around to watching this series and I can safely say this has to be one of, if not THE, best pieces of media I’ve ever watched! Over 6 hours of emotional damage was worth it!

  4. I used to think Matt Mercer was the level to aspire to as a DM (and he's great, don't get me wrong) but Brennan has such presence and delivery – he brought out the best in his players, pushed everyone to pour their emotion into their characters.

This campaign broke my heart in so many ways, so many ups and downs. You really felt the love for the characters and their children…it was roleplay at its finest.

  5. I only uglied cried five times, then once more when reading a few comments. That means I cried the least, right?

Seriously though, just about every scene with their kids absolutely broke me. What an insanely good story. Absolute masterclass performance and gaming by the cast, crew, and DM.

  6. I agree with Travis, BLM was masterful (as always).

I'd never seen Aabria or Luis play before – they were both great. I'll be checking out EXU's earlier season as soon as I have time.

I'm happy CR and Dimension20 players/DM are playing together. I can't wait to see (/possibly just hear it on NADDPOD) Emily Axford playing with CR people at some stage, she is one of my favourite D&D players.

  7. Ya know.. I saw some people say they didn't like the way Brennan DM'ed this series.. AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT! I've watched most of Dimension 20's stuff and knew Brennan has a very playful side when it comes to DMing and this is not necessarily a playful campaign but he totally brought that other dark and serious side out. Oh my God's this was an amazing story and I'm sad it has to be over. This should have gotten more than 4 episodes..
I cannot say enough good things about Brennan, the cast, the story, the twists, ALL OF IT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD 😭

  8. I love how Brennan phrased those last words:

“…And though Calamity is here, because of you, it will not be here forever.”

Our cast may have played a major part in bringing about the Calamity, but despite that they were able to downscale an eternal apocalypse to an age of ruin that the world could and would recover from. I love this story.

  9. Calamity – death of the ring of brass edition – scene: Cerrit sends his children to be with their mother.

Cerrit: everything will be ok, I’m going to help the city and then I’ll come find you.

    Cerrits ring begins to glow

Kir: why is your ring glowing daddy? (His voice gently shaking)

Cerrit holding their hands tightly: it…It does that when danger is near.

The ever perceptive Cerrit catches the sight of glowing red eyes in the darkness behind his children.

A single tear rolls from his eye down the feathers covering his face

    Cerrit: I love you both

He crushes the stones in their hands and as they magically teleport to Wrayne he stands, as he rises his wings fully spread and in the same instance his hands unsheathe his axes.

There he stands Cerrit Agrupnin: The Eyes of Avalir, proud member of the ring of brass, axes in hand ready to fight the evil that threaten his home.

Cerrit feels a pain from behind a pain that moves through his body piercing his heart and slowly pokes its way out of his chest. As he looks down he sees a blade, dark as the night sky, blood soaked sticking out his chest. In his final moments of life realising the eyes were a reflection from the window behind where he last saw his children he sends one last message over the telepathic bond.

    Cerrit: they are safe, goodbye…

The remaining members of the ring of Brass hear this message and pause for a moment and a tear rolls down Laerryns face as she feels the telepathic bond become devoid of his presence
