Spoiler free Pro tip… if you have the skill you can grapple the flying creatures and pull them to you. Also, you can equip a ranged weapon AND a melee. Go in your character screen and put the bow or Staff in the ranged slot. It is "equipable, much like the shield. It doesn't need to be on your hotbar. Use the left trigger on the controller or right mouse click to aim.
