FINALLY!! LOVEBITES – “HOLY WAR” LIVE | SINGER FIRST TIME REACTION

This a new first time ever reaction and analysis to LOVEBITES / Holy War [Live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020]. Love Bites came to my attention from my BabyMetal reaction. The lead singer gives me the vibes of classically trained, Floor Jansen of Nightwish and the guitar work on this is masterfully done, the whole performances is iconic. These ladies are on fire 🔥 !

  1. First time hearing this. Great song, amazing performance, stage presence galore, loved the vocals and instrumentation, and a completely different look for a metal band. It was entertaining from start to finish. Looks like I might have found a new favorite metal band.

  3. Ladies haven't bad songs this one of over 60 pieces they composed. The songs are very complex but catchy and have very good melodic solos. All artist are masters on instruments. They are versatile for they compose and play ballads, progressive songs, heavy metal, hard rock, rock, rock'n'roll thrash metal and the main part of teir craft is POWER METAL. They take the motives from classical music like Chopin, Rahmaninof, List, Dvorak. Probably they are the first band which blend perfectly power and thrash metal and classical background. One can say theay very eclectical. Stay safe. Stay Lovebites.♥️🎤⭐️🥁🎸🎸🎸

  4. Thanks for the Lovebites reaction. You might want to check out their cover of Eagle Fly Free by Helloween for a good example of Asami singing a little lower in her range. Every member of this band is a master of her craft. Most talented band in the world today. I hope you continue to explore their catalog. You will surely be more impressed the deeper you delve into their work.

  5. Welcome to the Japanese Metal Rabbithole.
    As like many of us, my entrapment started with Babymetal back in 2014, and from there I just discovered more and more exceptional bands and I have never looked back since.
    A few suggestions besides Lovebites (which catalogue almost have no weak songs) I can recommand bands like:
    Aldious, Alicetopia, Amiliyah, Anarchy Stone, Asterism, Band-Maid, Bridear, Cross Vein, Cyntia, D_Drive, Destrose, Dog-Mag, Doll$boxx, ExistTrace, Fate Gear, Fuki (Commune), FullMoon, Gacharic Spin, Hagane, Hanabie, Lipstick, Lonesome_Blue, Mardelas, Mary's Blood, Mutant Monster, Nemophila, Rie a.k.a. Suzaku, Saisega, Show-Ya, Unlucky Morpheus, Valkyrie (Zero)

  6. Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later.

    They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. They have posted four performances from that DVD—“”Hammer of Wrath”, “Judgement Day”, “Nameless Warrior” and “Liar”. All of them are barn-burners. They have also posted “Stand and Deliver” from the second concert.

    Some background:
    They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).

    Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.

    In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3uGjp-P7DI

    The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.

    They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."

    Here are more clips you should check out:
    “Set the World on Fire” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99zsH6iG_6c from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”.
    “Don’t Bite the Dust” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHnKGEj1CMc, from the same concert;
    "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sl0-U-ykJCU They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope.
    Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXh_uMM94jU;
    Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae8pQVu-RN8.

    Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. She is self-taught on the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBhtqgiXEA4.

    For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Pc0XK0lNmU includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M.

    For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ynnXDfEnnY (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both)

    While you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular:
    "Shadowmaker" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Brmoln5Gxus
    This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world
    "When Destinies Align" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLFelI93VkM
    "Glory to the World" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wJtD2XEXH4
    "Winds of Transylvania" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsE4Ub_Pjh8.

    Finally, the audio tracks of some of the new album are up on youtube, and worth checking out. The band clearly came out swinging and wanted to make a statement. Every song on the album is a showcase of their incredible talent and songwriting capabilities. “Stand and Deliver” is a thrasher with a fun video of them in the studio. “Soldier Stands Solitarily”, the final song on the album, is being touted by some as the best thing they’ve done so far—I encourage you to see and decide for yourself!

    You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

  7. Asami, the singer, arrived from the R&B. If You want to hear something new i can suggest you: Liar (always live 2023) or Swan song +Chopin etude (2020) or Frozen serenade (2021). Thank You.
