We finally get a look at Pedro Pascal as the legendary Joel from The Last of Us and I gotta, say…so far he’s got me convinced! Bella Ramsey as Ellie though…might need a little more convincing for me but fingers crossed HBO Max does really good job with this video game to series adaptation. We’ve also got an exciting cast here with Nick Offerman as Bill and Anna Torv as Tess!

Pedro sounded exactly like Troy in that clip, but I was never really in doubt of that casting, I'm way more sceptical of Bella Ramsey's casting, but she did also deliver the "Everyone I cared for has either died or left me…" very close to Ashley, and I played the game multiple times and heard that line multiple times. So yeah, I'm more optimistic now that I've seen this.

Yep. You just showed why I don't watch TV. I may stream a few 'good' shows rarely (good shows are rare) but all the hype and crappy ways these companies try to manipulate viewers – well – I don't miss it. They didn't bother to have 'Elliot' Page cast? I don't blame today's younger audiences – it takes a while to see it for what it is, and probably longer now that the population is going beta.

Bella Ramsey has a similar look to the voice actress who played Ellie. And she's a great actress for such a young age. I think she can bring toughness and vulnerability that the character requires.

I had the same reaction to Pedro. Wasn't sure he was the right pick for Joel, but he delivered the hell out of just that one line. Maybe too soon to say, but I'm sold.
after the show of the mandalorian…Pedro Pascal had vacancy, and he was offered several projects from large networks…and he chose "The last of Us", he is reportedly earning $600,000 per episode, also he watched his nephew play the beginning of the first game, and as he is lacking the skill to play it himself; he found Joel to be "so impressive" but was concerned about imitating the games too closely, instead choosing to "create a healthy distance" and allow the showrunners to decide the characterization.
I though that's the original dialogue from the game but it was Pedro thats amazing, I still don't buy Ellie though

I have played the game and I am a big fan of Pedro because of his performance in The Mandalorian and I knew from the moment I heard he was going play Joel, that he was perfect for it, and the accent I heard is 100% JOEL! He is gonna be amazing and as for the rest, it looks amazing!

I've played part 1 and 2 of the game and I loved it and I'm really down to see it come to life at first I was like how will Pedro fit as Joel until I saw the footage and was like he is perfect, what can we expect, Sony, PlayStation and naughty dog were involved that why it took almost a year to film to make it perfect
