The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a 2017 action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U consoles. The game is a part of The Legend of Zelda series and is set at the end of its timeline. The player controls an amnesiac Link, who awakens from a hundred-year slumber and is tasked with saving Princess Zelda and preventing Calamity Ganon from destroying the world. Similar to the original 1986 Legend of Zelda, players are given minimal instruction and can explore the open world freely. Released on March 3, 2017, Breath of the Wild was a launch game for the Nintendo Switch and the final Nintendo-published game for the Wii U. Two waves of downloadable content were released in 2017 via an expansion pass. Breath of the Wild received universal acclaim. It won several Game of the Year awards and has since been cited as one of the greatest video games of all time. Breath of the Wild is also the top selling game in the series and one of the best-selling video games of all time, selling more than 30 million copies by 2022. A spin-off, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, was released in 2020; a sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, is scheduled for 2023.

  1. A big part of Zelda's somberness is presumably that she knows she is supposed to have great power and despite working so hard has been unable to find it. So yes, they're headed towards doom and she's to blame (though one can argue how true that is).

  2. Zelda in breath of the wild is one of my favorite characters ever, I relate to her so much. Im glad you're taking the time to really absorb the story cuz a lot of people don't care as much about the story in this game 🙂

  4. I‘m loving this playthrough! Afterwards you should play Zelda Ocarina of Time, it‘s the best ranked video game of all time! And it was inspired by the hobbit, as well, you might like that!

  5. Hey ryan, I just wanted you to know that this has been a really special play through for me to watch. It started out as Tears of the kingdom hype for me but in the course of this series my entire life has changed drastically and you have been a contant pillar i've been leaning on throughout. What you do is so important and echoes not only into your current world to others but also throughout time. You are amazing man and i wish you luck in my favorite part of this game. Hyrule castle.

  6. If you want to get a better understanding of Zelda's character, you should probably rewatch the memories in order, it's much clearer that way. But if you want an explanation based off the memories you already have, here I go:

It's likely that Zelda was feeling depressed because, if you recall, the legend from 10,000 years ago speaks about how Calamity Ganon was defeated and sealed by a princess with a sacred power and a knight wielding the sword that seals the darkness.

With that legend in mind, remember the fact that Zelda has struggled all of her life trying to awaken the sacred power, praying every day, but has been unable to do so, and you can see how she starts getting more and more frustrated about it during some of the memories.

On the other hand, when Zelda met Link 100 years ago, he already had the Master Sword in his posession. Unlike her, he had already fulfilled his destiny, while Zelda couldn't, no matter how hard she tried. That's why Urbosa referred to Link as "A living reminder of her own failures".

  8. Ryan I would love it if you tried on all the outfits to see all of the set bonuses you've unlocked.
There are a lot of them that you've unlocked, and I get a little sad every time you get one and then end up not looking at it.

But hey! If it doesn't make sense to check them out in the playthrough, you can always look through them during the post-game streams when we can talk about stuff more freely!
Really excited to see you tackle the end-game in the coming episodes.

  11. This is such a small thing but Ryan leaving certain loot items behind because he’s realizing he won’t need them before he finishes the game is making me so sad hahahahaha
I don’t want this series to be over
