Podcast is Called : ASN Humans Are Space Orcs , HFY and other stories
————–

This Story is Classified as HFY or Humanity Feck, Yea , but what does the Mean?
————-
HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.
————-
Taken from the FAQ of the r/HFY subreddit.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don’t always put a positive spin on humanshumanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

  1. Why use humans for fighters? A non sentient artificial intelligence would outperform a human. Humans are limited to 5-10g acceleration. We think slow. Spinning disorients us. We require air, water, food, heating and sleep to survive.

  2. No commanding officer worth his salt would refuse to sacrifice the air wing to save the ship. It seems cruel and heartless to a civilian, and it is ordering men to their certain deaths, but in the military you do what you have to to accomplish the mission, and save the MEU (Mission Essential Unit). You save who you can, but you have to maintain the ability to fight. You also never surrender while you still have the ability to resist.

  3. It remaind me a peruvian hero Francisco Bolognesi, his small force was badly outnumbered and outgunned, when the chilean army asked for surrender he reply: “I have sacred duties to fulfill and I will carry them out until the last cartridge is burned.”

  4. Stupid story. The premise is absurd. There have been more commanders than can be numbered who have ordered men to certain death. It is what commanders have to do. It is a part of war. What commander would simply let a subordinate declare mutiny and then let him walk out? Are we supposed to believe he was so brain dead that he did not understand what was going to happen? And we are to believe that there was no way to stop the actions that followed? No attempt even? If you want us to suspend disbelief, you have to at least give us some rational seeming path to follow to get there.

What sort of clueless snowflake wrote this tripe? His understanding of the reality of a situation like this is so poor, the result is actually insulting to anyone who has served.

  5. A great example of hubris at work! What kind of idiot would send an unescorted battleship into hostile territory? WW2 demonstrated explicitly that capital ships require escorts, and there's no reason we'd ever forget those lessons in the face of hostile aliens.
