  1. It may just be because I'm not the one playing, but it seems like the enemies are damage sponges. For those who have played the game, how does the combat feel? Do the battles take too long, or are they really fun in the moment?

  2. How do Bomb enemies work in an action style FF game like this? in the more turn based games back in the day they would increase in size each of their turns until they exploded, but this game clearly doesn't have turns for it to do that. Do they do for a certain number of hits instead?

  3. Hmmm, that ending has me wondering, why is mumsy so happy to fawn over kid number 3 when they’re very unlikely to be a dominant? Either they sorta are, or maybe Rosolith is a good enough empire for her satisfaction unlike Rosaria.

  4. Quite enjoyed that big moment for Jill, and hopefully she can have a more exciting characterisation post this burden being lifted. Predicted the fake out for the kiss, classic move. Progress is progress though.

  5. 51:07 Will you really understand, Clive? Unlike Cid, Jill, Joshua, or any of the non-dominant bearers we've seen, you don't appear affected by the curse. Which makes sense from a gameplay perspective of it making little sense to make you slower and clunkier the more you use your magic, but I do wonder why it hasn't notably affected him from an in-universe perspective. Is it related to Ifrit, and/or to the reason Ultima wants him as a vessel rather than anyone else?

  6. 23:00 here’s your NOT-SO fun localisation fact about Jill’s pre-battle rant here:
In the Japanese script, she mentions that it was young girls Imreann put in chains, and that he had sexually violated them before killing them.

So… yeah. May he burn in all seven hells!

  7. I'm a tad confused. First we see the man in the hood and I assume that's Joshua possessed by Ultima, but then we see Joshua somewhere else at the same time. So does that mean that the man in the hood is a completely different entity than both Ultima and Joshua?

  8. The scene at the end with Clive's mom makes me wonder about early in the game how she got her power, I wonder if that ever gets explained. Because from what I remember she's presented as an unhappy wife but also lord of Rosaria but then the twist happens and she's the right hand of the emperor. Which works for the twist but given how far we in and how this game likes to show other characters pov's, especially with her coming back into the story here I wonder if/when we'll get that

  9. 0:14 When did you become part dwarf?
3:14 Really like her partial form.
5:24 Staggering a slime feels like a weird concept.
7:32 I was wondering if there were going to be elemental weakness/resistance in this game.
8:53 I'm kind of hoping part of this ends up in Dragon's Dogma II.
9:48 I'm sure no-one is going to reinterpret that. Nope. Nobody at aaaall.
10:43 Be glad you left the South. I'm scrubbing A/C noises from audio, because no A/C would be a health hazard.
22:07 What is this, the Golden Throne?
24:56 It's times like this I wonder exactly what the baddies are thinking. Do they think they just walked in? What's a few more bodies to the pile? You're not safe here, my dude.
35:30 Not used to hearing that phrase said that way…
    37:08 Bye, weirdo.
48:33 You're just a pompous beast. At least Hugo isn't living a lie. (Although, I do wonder what the point of sending Benedikta's head was. I mean, undeniable proof, maybe, but… idk, feels excessive.)
48:57 …Wow, what a piece of work. Did she really do all this because her first family wasn't "up to snuff"?
53:06 I'll never get that one line from KOTOR2 out of my head… damn it, Kreia.

  10. So graphics have come so far in the past 20 years, but it always bugs me that when someone is smoking in 90% of video games it just looks off. Regardless, cheers on another amazing video!

  11. – maybe Torgal is just the Dominant of Good Boys
    – Jill suffering of heatstroke has to be the most emotionally connected Dan has been with this game so far 🤣 a true Kinship moment
    – oh wow Jill not only fulfilled her revenge, but felt good about it, AND survived to go further in game
    – … Clive still needs to work on his Ifrit business tho
    – as much of a Hugo Kupka he might be, that is a good point sieging a nation across the sea when they have a full continentworth of resources is a dumb idea
    – oh, so Clive & Jill are a romantic relationship, i actually honestly thought they would keep it platonical… an executive complained about Clive & Gav, wasn't it?

  12. Kupka brings up an interesting point in the meeting of the Dhalmekian ministers: use of an Eikon by either side in their war will provoke retaliation, which will lead to mutually-assured destruction (akin to a nuclear attack). That's yet another interesting real-world parallel for them to bring out of the fantasy elements.

  13. Oh, Liquid Flame! An an old friend from FF5.
(Friend as in "it kicked my ass multiple times, so I had to spend a while dealing with it", kinda like Justice/Order Sol in Guilty Gear in that sense.)
I like that they kept it's shapeshifting shenanigans.
