Two mysterious, cloaked figures lurk in the shadows, sneaking along dirt roads in 12th century Jerusalem. They’re following an influential politician, an Italian who had just been named King of Jerusalem after a brief victory for the Christians during the crusades. The king’s entourage rounds a corner, and the cloaked men jump out and attack. One of the men is taken out by the guards, martyring himself. The other is captured, while the king eventually succumbs to his injuries.
If you think this sounds like something out of Assassin’s Creed, you’re right. But it also comes straight from the history books.
Welcome back to Nutty History. Today, we’re looking at the Nizari Ismaili (iz-mah-ee-lee), the real-life assassin cult that nearly toppled empires.

Weed smoking Muslims made it possible for fun video game series
Great video. But this Chinese illustration is a bit misleading
Blimey…now it's just America…I liked this video yes!!!!👍😅
Always loving Assassins Creed references 👍 and ofc the history videos 😂
One word: Badass
Love the games. Played Origins last year, now I'm working my way thru Valhalla, both games are so good.
Alex Jones used to talk about this pre- 2012 like the Templare created the Hassasins, but even earlier the hassasins created the Templars and some crazy stuff mentioning the Rosecrucians etc Alex Jones went so deep he even started censoring his own vids but people reposted clips but youtube took them down, the old YouTube was Awesome
Truth is you have to bring up the mystery schools etc. when speaking on the Hassasins, doubt just in the game but one Hassasin leader may have secretly been a Templar etc
You think Hillary Clinton is an Hassasin lol like an evil version no offense to anyone
Speak on the Mystery Schools
Conrad of monferrat was killed by hashansin.
Qom is a city in Iran.
Pleeeeease do more video games based on real historical events. A video on Ghost Of Tsushima would be amazing !!
But this video states that the sect of Nizari Ismaili still exists today lead by Aga Khan IV. https://youtu.be/vG8qmlKdRjs
the reason they went after saladin because he converted Egypt from Shia to Sunni and for closing Al-Azhar Mosque as it was a university for teaching and spreading shia Islam
Seljuk ruler Ahmed Sanjar who was on his way to start a campaign to conquer Alamut and eliminate assassins, one day woke up to a dagger placed in his pillow with a note from Hasan saying "he would like peace". Bewildered, he accepted his offer.
Gamer nerds.
Qom is in Iraq? Don't you even google what you are presenting as history? I'm unsubscribing scared of being wrongly educated on things I would not double check. Do not feed rubbish as historical facts
City of Qom is in Iran, not Iraq.
The sect that belongs to Hashashins today are Nizari Ismaili "Khoja" the most peaceful group of Muslims in the world today.
They're almost majorly concentrated in India.
Qom is in Iran, not Iraq.
Making money is an action. Keeping money is a behaviour, but "Growing money is wisdom" I heard this from someone ☺️
Wokeism and feminist propaganda has ruined Assassin's Creed… Sad
Never play the game but have heard of it and looked it up to see it's based on historical events. So this video is really informative. Keep up the good work!
one of the fascinating parts of Iran's rich history 😎
qom is one of the cities of iran not iraq smh
I’ve been playing red dead redemption lately, I’d love to see history in your video format that can be extracted from that game!
Honestly I am in love with your channel but this video has to take the all time most interesting and fun to watch
I want an assassins creed on this part of history
A wonderful historical coverage about assassination creeds didactic by Nazarri Ismail groups some records labeled 🏷 to Opium usages for directing assassin's..thanks (Nutty history) channel for sharing
//Hasan III had more sunni sympathies and he returned the nizaries to more traditional islamic practises…//
Which therefore implies traditionalist persian-nizaries unleashed the mongols on the sunni-nizaries to wipe them out…and subsequently created tehran as their new "Al alamaut"
I wish I lived back then. I would have been an assassin and plowed ladies of night and lived a short but exciting life.
"The Old Man on the Mountain" aka "King Hassan" aka "The First Hassan" aka "Grand Assassin".
…Or, as everyone in Chaldea just calls him, "Gramps."
Another correction, Seljuk empire never had eastern Afghanistan and Pakistan.
People think it's all about making money but nahhh!! Y'all are making great financial mistakes I think growing money should be your 2023 decision this year it has made me who I am through investments.
This was an incredible video. Thank you for showing all these niche parts of history that were never taught in (American) history books
The actual assassins were decimated along with the templars.
Hashashin is a word coming from hashishya, those who consume hashish.
This video is gonna go viral
Assassin's comes from the word hash, called hassassins, also I believe they were in the fatimed empire meaning followers of Fatima
Qom is a city in what today is Iran (not Iraq). Look it up.
Lol😂 they fall at the end
but pakistan was not a part of seljuk empire , it was a part of india , and you didnt even mention pakistan among the stans then why did you mark it as a part?
What secret or forgotten histories do you want us to cover next? Also let us know in the comments below about any video games based off history for we could possible cover them in a future video, thank you Nutty Historians!
The are still playing the long game….look at our previous leaders and present government
more videos on this topic please!
In wich contry history is this?
Please don't show the wrong map of INDIA🇮🇳
Qom it’s in Iran not Iraq. You got your history wrong. They were persian(Iranians) not arabs.
