  2. To eliminate the pop-over crap, get the uBlock Origin addin and then use the "block element" feature. You can do this 2 times for each corner on each view size or edit it so you only need 1. In total, you'll have to block something like 15 pop-overs, but once done, they don't come back.

  3. A lot of people don't seem to realise that Guiliman, the narrator is speaking bitterly, that the claims of triumphs and victory are lies and propaganda. Glad your media literacy is better than that!

This video has a lot of small details they didn't need to have, but add shades of meaning. The big door is the tomb of Sanguinius, Guilliman's brother.
It symbolises the difference between the past and the present – Guilliman has been in stasis for a very long time, and the galaxy is a very different place to when he left it – he came from a time when he wouldn't have had preachers and propagandists lying about the circumstances from the pulpit, and the Imperium wasn't so rotten at the core.
Sanguinius, dead and entombed and depicted as a saint, when he and Guilliman fought against ignorance and susperstition for a secular golden age. Very bitter, which explains his expression.
This adds tone to the narration – he's not just complaining the war is going badly, he's bemoaning his civilization has rotted from the inside without him, and the lies and ignorance he has to put up with because they're commonplace now, and he's too busy putting out fires.

Maybe the shot of the Marine missing his shot is meant to subtly show that things aren't maybe going as well as they could.

I agree about the animation, particularly the smaller Tyranids – they have gone for high fidelity representations of the models they selling, even if it precludes realistic movement. The first one we see dying looks very stiff in the jaw. The use of fog, darkness, and flames have been cleverly used to hide imperfections.

I think the stable shots you dislike so much are to display the new models better – the new Dreadnought, the new Apothecary, so it's got the shakey, handheld feeling to tell the story, then goes stiffer so we can get a look at the products.

The "AVP" moment is meant to be a homage to two famous pieces of 40k artwork, both depicting the Crimson Fists in their last stands – google Crimson Fists Last Stand and you'll see it.

  4. I love your breakdowns. I came in when you did the Astartes video and stayed for how well you broke it all down and I really enjoy how you're starting to openly critique aspects of a cinematic. It's always great to hear both sides of what you think.

Before I drop into it. The Blood Angels are another Space Marine group. And that Librarian did die.

About the trailer itself – Roboute Guilliman (Primarch/Leader of the Ultramarines) who narrates the trailer is mainly speaking/reciting of the lies and falsehoods the Imperium tells it's citizens – where the trailer itself shows the true reality. Worlds being lost to both the Tyrannids and the Great Rift (Chaos).

Guilliman at this point in the lore, while loyal to the Imperium is essentially a heretic due to what he knows about the universe and it's workings. He has nearly stopped spreading the Imperial rhetoric and has started talking of the realities of the Imperium which he does touch base on blatantly at the end of the trailer where he says: "Our people sing of victory. Victory, /as the galaxy burns/. Victory, /as the Imperium rots around us/. Victory, as humanity rages against the dying of the light. Victory… [as worlds are shown to be lost to the Tyrannids]"

  5. Yep. One thing that I felt wrong about this trailer is the bobble camera. It doesn't feel human, it felt more of a car than human shakiness.
Imagine the dreadnought scene but with more shakiness as it stepped in closer. It would made the entrance more powerful +3

Anyways, please do a reaction and breakdown on "Warhammer 40k Armouring a Space Marine". It shows how even dressing these big guys are dramatic as well lmao

Edit: The reason why the Space Marine feels like in control via the first half of the trailer is because they never felt fear. It's ingrained in their minds while being trained.

The reason why the main Marine character moves swiftly is because he is wearing Phobos pattern power armor. Lighter and more agile variant of their armor.

The Comedic relief you see when the two Bugs just looked at the Librarian is not as funny when you know what their purpose. They are specifically made to hunt down Psykers, eat them, use the mass they ate from the psykers and spew out spores that would weaken everyone (Or just psykers) that comes out on their back.

Last but not the least. If you don't want things popping up on the last minute of the vid. Go to Warhammer's official YT channel and watch things there. Sadly, we can't find anything that would disable annotations. Unless there's a extension on the browser that I don't know of.

  6. this cinematic does a great job at showing the scale of 40k, Space Marines have been the poster boys of 40k since the beginning (the Ultramarines almost specifically), and this cinematic throws them into a war where they have no hope of winning. Guilliman knows that he's sending his sons to fight in battles where the vast majority, if not all of them, will not return, but he does it because it's expected of him, and it's causing him a lot of pain to do that to his sons, and i believe that his grief, anger, and frustration with the Imperium is shown quite well here.

Aside from some of the same camera issues that you disliked, which i think summed up my problems with it, this is a pretty great cinematic. It does a decent job getting you to want to spend your life savings on small plastic men and paint for them. I don't think this one begins to have anything on the Horus Heresy cinematic, though, and it will probably be a long time before GW manages to one up that one, if they ever manage to.

  7. If you ever feel like doing a very long reaction (or spread between multiple videos), the halo movie Forward Unto Dawn is free on YouTube and is about 1h30 in length. If you want something REALLY long (2h30), the 40k movie Helsreach is also available, albeit in different episodes. A movie version was created by a fan to make it watchable in one seating too.

  8. Enjoy it while you can Amazon will make space marines strong girls bosses, The God Emperor will be a trans black lesbian and the Sisters of Silence, Orks, Necrons, Tyranids, Inquisitors with mentioning a single character, I dare not think. Amazon and the woke to the point of destruction modern entertainment industry will end 40k forever like it destroyed Tolkien's legacy for every generation to come. It is not to late Amazon, Cavill leave Warhammer 40k alone it is not for the non existent modern audience

  10. Given who Gulliman is i'd call it a voice of demigod 🙂 Can't wait when GW puts a trailer up with Lion involved, to see how they incorporate their version of king arthur / lancelot into the wider narrative

  11. Great video as always! Love the detailed breakdown and glad to see You enjoying these cinematics!

As for 51:34. Yes, it's an attack. As a reminder, Librarians are Space Marines that are very capable Psychers, using their powers as an addition to regular, physical weapons. That floating Tyranid with exposed "brain" is a Neurotyrant, a bioform that evolved specifically to attack via psychic means. The Librarian was overpowered by it, and he died by being basically fried by it, that's why he fell on his knees and dropped the axe

  12. Great video. Take home message: Master light and add smoke or dust.

Would love to see your reaction to Clear Skies I-III. It’s a fab-made mini series using the game Half-Life and mods. It’s brilliant.
