Two former NFL offensive linemen (Alex Boone and Jeremiah Sirles) team up with a die-hard football fan and media dweeb (Phil Mackey) for entertaining, informative, opinionated, behind-the-scenes discussions about the game — from a trenches perspective!

Directly into the biggest vein in my neck.
More please…
If Tampa went for two & got it.. Guarantee refs call an offensive penalty
They said it best , the best team with Tom Brady ended up losing in the Super Bowl, all that matters is the W baby
The comment about how kc moved the line of scrimmage is why I enjoy this channel. I'm enjoying the game at a higher level.
In line with this topic of coin flip decisions, I'm convinced 4th quarter and overtime is a offensive lines best friend. The 13 second game had both defenses exhausted. I believe a defensive player is tired enough to be a half step slower at this time of the game. As a Chiefs fan I believe Todd B. Should have tried for 2 points as the chiefs was exhausted during this time as well.
Let's see with 4 Lombardis have never once have the chiefs been the best team according to the experts.
Last week the raiders had 1st and goal on the three and 4 plays later kc 1st down on the 7.O
PS ask Josh allen what mahomes can do with 13 seconds left and that was the #1 defense in the nfl.
Chris Simms said the other day Mahomes walks on the field like "I'm Patrick effing Mahomes and you aren't"
“Die with the ball in your hand”. That says it all, avoid giving Mahomes last possession, you won’t win. Mayfield’s reaction to the coin flip was pure pain. Dude played a great game and had to lose on a coin flip, guaranteed he would have rather gone for two.
12:15 they ran this same play on the last drive in the Super Bowl in February. Nick Bosa and the LBs bit hard on the RB and Mahomes kept it for about a 12 yard gain.
Also at 14:03 you talk about NFL teams not lining up with two TEs as H backs on one side of the formation. High schools throughout the country have been running plays out of that formation for about 15 years, but it's just now been picked up by the NFL. It's interesting to me how most of the innovations start at lower levels of the sport and work their way upward.
Love your content. Honest question from a 56 yr old KC fan about the 17-0 “shot”. If KC goes 14-0 w/3 games left, then they would lock up the #1 seed/bye in playoffs. As a star player, would you want to rest for 4 weeks be for the post season run, or would you want to try to run the table? Curious about your take.
I watch every chiefs game. They definitely ease up when they're up by a score. Most teams end up losing a few if they do this because they lose momentum. But you can tell when Chiefs really need to score, or really need a stop, everyone just seems to kick it into higher gear and make it happen. They only win by a score or two because they know they can always crank it up to get that W
The stat they should have been looking at is Patrick Mahomes has never lost an overtime game in the regular season
14:04 when Andy Reid pours himself a cold one it's either caffeine-free Diet Coke or a big glass of milk
Good dudes, solid stuff, but the dudes will never hear about this. Oh well, on the extra point thing they're overlooking a number of things, like the Bucs being 5-11 on 3rd down, slick grass, slick ball, Chris Jones having a habit of wreaking house on plays like that, and the D having shut down 4 attempts against LV, starting from the 3.
Come on, guys, keep in mind that you're viewing this in hindsight, not on the field without much time to spare. Y'all say you've been there, so you must remember that kind of mental pressure. Put that mindset on again, and think like you only have seconds or less to make a decision, and don't know the outcome. Gut feelings of a vet away from the sidelines is not the same as the gut feeling of someone who's cleats on the ground. C'mon, y'all stepped up your game once, step it up again, if improvement's part of your work ethic still.
There's a big difference between looking beatable and being beatable. The Chiefs have always played close games under Reid. It's not a new development. They don't waste great plays in a blowout for no reason like the Lions. They get the lead late and shut the game down. Everyone's out here thinking it's some kind of accident every weak. Nope, it's coaching.
F the chiefs and their legion of refs
Yeah, they get two, and now the Chiefs have 33 seconds and 3 timeouts….and 4 downs. 27-25 Chiefs. Same outcome.
It’s the chiefs’ training camp. This is what pushes them and separates us from everyone else.
Going for 2 would have been a pretty bad mistake. The math comes down to if there’s better than a 10% chance KC drives down for a field goal with 27 seconds left and 3 timeouts, then going for 2 is a mistake. If they had run the clock down, then going for 2 would be good.
Where they’re goofing up in the analysis is you’re still putting the ball in Mahomes hands with the game on the line if you go for two and make it. 27 seconds and 3 timeouts. Plus they had to have made it.
one thing lost in this go for 2 conversation is they had 27 seconds with all 3 timeouts and harrison butker who can probably nail 55-60 yards with a above 90% hit rate. There was a pretty good chance they lose anyways as you guys pointed out. Not enough big media talking about that.
I'll push back on the 2 point conversion option. If they did go for and get the 2 points, the Chiefs have 30 secs and 3 timeouts to get 25 yards for Butker (the best kicker in the NFL) to kick a game winning FG. You think they wouldn't have? And don't say "But they punted after the Bucs score" Yea they did because they didn't "have" to win it then.
The Chiefs didn’t look good last year
If the Chiefs win their next 3 games, they will have won 80% of Patrick Mahomes' starts including the playoffs. If they win the 3 after that, they will have won 80% of his regular-season starts and locked up the 1 seed if it hadn't been a week or two sooner.
Todd Bowles just watched on film the Chiefs stuff the Raiders on the goal line multiple times. We've seen Mahomes several times lead a drive down the field for a game winning field goal how many times now this season? In the past we've seen Mahomes do that in 13-seconds. Also the analytics show that Bowles had a 48% chance versus a 41% chance to win by going into overtime versus going for 2. Easy to criticize but not such an easy decision. Had he went for 2 and lost everyone would be talking about how he should went for the tie and go into overtime based on analytics. It's a lose/lose for Bowles.
Everyone keeps saying they had the Chiefs on the ropes did they really tho?Pat would’ve found another way
I agree in principle with going for two.
But it is interesting that y’all said, “27 seconds is too much time for Patrick Mahomes” AND “you can win the game on the spot with a 2 point conversion”
It’s one or the other. In my opinion If they went for two and converted, the cheifs win 27-25. They’re just in the zone right now
The problem is you give Mahomes the ball with 4 downs, 3 timeouts and 24 seconds to get about 30 yards, they were 4th and 1 damn near the 50 with 13 17 seconds left.they left the chiefs too much time to go for two.He shouldn’t have called the timeout and let the clock run down and score with under 10 seconds. Then go for two.
The nfl should be scared now. Hopkins and Mahomes trust. They are getting stronger.
