When you watch A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place 2, we are shown how humanity has adapted to survive in a world where any sound can get you killed. Except, that’s not exactly true. Even in the movie itself, we see that people are unable to exist without making ANY sound. So, how loud is TOO loud? It’s time to find out!

  1. Me a flute player I can say flutes are quite high pitch but only uses 20 percent of the air that goes into the flute but there are reasons why flutes would be much better to use as a weapon in this movie than a clarinet because the smaller the instrument the higher the pitch (think the higher the pitch the better offense) but a specific piece of music is one where it's very soft the a very loud note but the reason I say this it's much harder to play bad on flute than play good so you must be in a specific breath range or just play music of bad flute sounds that are high pitch lol

  2. I enjoyed the movie, but I still question why the death angels react to basically the volume of sound, and not specific sounds themselves. They must all suffer from ADD. A primary requirement of hunting by sound be knowing which sounds are important; given that these creatures are entirely alien to Earth, how do they have any reference regarding what sound is important and what isn't? Perhaps it can be explained, but this struck me as a big nope to me.

Additionally, as other commenters have pointed out, sound can easily be used as a tactic against the monsters. Saturating an area with sound to mask movement and even gunfire–artillery shelling to create saturation that would completely overwhelm their auditory capabilities. You don't need to know a specific frequency, you just need to know how to smartly exploit their own advantages. Sort of why I don't understand why zombie movies, because fire is a thing, and zombies are very stupid. lol

  3. i think its more likely that the frequency hurting the monster from the feedback is insanely high and we can't percieve it. this wouldnt be shown in the movie but with the nature of feedback that would probably make the most sense. a entire being being sensitive to such a common frequency like 1400-1900hz doesnt seem to make much sense

  4. Also he forgot to include the fact that the animal could be exposing its flesh so that the frequency didn’t shake their scull! 🙂 they arnt just opening ip because of the frequency causing them pain, it’s a defense mechanism so that the frequency doesn’t, well, give them brain damage

  5. ASL interpreter here. Another danger of night time is, it is difficult to communicate in sign language when it is dark. ASL has specific hand shapes, facial expressions, and movements that are hard to catch in the dark. That is why if you've ever seen an ASL interpreter, interpreting in a dark theater they also have a spotlight.
