Over 30 languages constitute the Bisayan language family. The Bisayan language with the most speakers is Cebuano, spoken by 20 million people as a native language in Central Visayas, parts of Eastern Visayas, and most of Mindanao. Two other well-known and widespread Bisayan languages are Hiligaynon (Ilonggo), spoken by 9 million in most of Western Visayas and Soccsksargen; and Waray-Waray, spoken by 6 million in Eastern Visayas region. Prior to colonization, the script and calligraphy of most of the Visayan peoples was the badlit, closely related to the Tagalog baybayin.
Thank you Kulas for sharing your travel adventures. I grew up in Pototan haven’t been back since 2008 It’s really nice to see my hometown. Regards from Campbell River BC 🇨🇦
You are an absolute lifesaver. I always struggle with coming up with ideas either what to cook next or for dinner. So this is really uplifting and a great way to get inspired about what to do next, and I truly appreciate that. Wishing you only the best and great cooking
Whole Hiligaynon is the official name of the language I have never heard the local folks call it that. They all refer to it as Ilongo. Yes there is a very sweet tone to the language. Maybe that is why I married one so many years ago.
