FILIPINO or MALAYSIAN SNACK? Home Cooking in Tawi-Tawi (Mapun Island)

MALAYSIAN OR FILIPINO? I AM NOT 100% SURE, BUT I AM CERTAIN THIS SNACK WAS MADE BY AN AMAZING JAMA MAPUN WOMAN IN TAWI-TAWI!

This video is a beautiful day exploring the north eastern side of Mapun Island. We hop on some motor bikes and head off to explore the barangays. Along the way, we meet friendly locals, try some amazing 10 peso soup, and visit a local family who prepares a unique snack for us. “Pitawali” is a fried biscuit made using rice flour, garlic, pepper, salt, oil, and coconut milk. I heard it may actually be Malaysian inspired? But I am not certain. Anyways, this part of the Philippines is so close to Malaysia, and with so many products from the country, it wouldn’t surprise me if this snack has some inspiration from there.

I really appreciated this day connecting with the locals. Mapun Island is so peaceful. You really feel at east exploring here, and it is such a beautiful part of Tawi-Tawi, Mindanao.

Such a wonderful experience cooking with Da Russa in her home.

POWER ON!

  2. In Tawi-Tawi there municipality are in island 🏝
And in Tawi-Tawi they had a Malaysian dish.

Because Tawi-Tawi is close to Malaysia.
And the extreme points in the Philipppines are in Batanes and Matnog Sorsogon ang Bislig Surigao Del Sur and Tawi-Tawi and the Southern Island in Palawan.

And they even had a house that you can put money and candy 🪙🪙🪙🍬🍬🍬🏠
Instead of piggy bank they use a house because it is an Islamic area.

And In Tawi-Tawi they even had a boat going to Sabah in Malaysia ⛵⛵⛵
And they even had a chili sottanghon soup which is a chili rice noodles 🍜🍜🌶🌶🌶

And you and Kumar had some strings of saliva on your mouth when I see people eat or drink with there strings of saliva on there mouth feels like I'm not gonna eat or drink anymore because it reminded me of my brother drooled on my cake on my birthday when I was little which was the grossest moment in childhood 🤤➡🎂🍰

And they even made pitawali which is looked like a potato chips that is like a pretzel 🥔
And it is made of rice flour and garlic powder and pepper and salt and vegetable oil and coconut milk 🥨🥨🥨🥥🥛🧄🧂🍶

Which it makes it really good when they put coconut milk on it 🥥🥛
