  1. A story related to The Great Movie Ride which was one of my family's favorites, too:

Back when cast member pin trading was actually possible because they HAD DESIRABLE PINS instead of junk, Disney put out a set of classic ride marquis including the GMR after it had closed.

My mom and I were shopping at the pin store in Disney Springs and as we usually do, we struck up a conversation with a CM who wasn't busy helping a guest and, talking about pins, we mentioned how bummed we were that even though we had been looking SO HARD we hadn't been able to find a single one of the ride marquis pins. They told us about their favorite rides from the set, we reciprocated, and then a guest came up needing to check out so we stepped away to look at something else. The CM disappeared for a moment after that.

When she came back she asked us why we loved GMR so much, and as we started telling her she said "Oh I love your MagicBand sliders! Let me see." and then she took my hand and brought it up to look at my wrist.

She palmed me a pin, and when I opened my hand it was the GMR marquis. When we looked back to at her she just did a 🤫 and told us to have a magical day.

That memory still makes me 🥲

  2. The storybook circus billboard saying thanks for choo choo sing reminds me of the episode of the simpsons where lisa feels bad for ralph because he didn't get any valentines day cards so she gives him one that says "I choo choose you" shaped like a train.

  3. I agree about the modern vs themed middle ground and Disney Sea

We were there in 2019 and the only complaint I have is not being able to get a FastPass for the Center of the Earth ride…I have a collection from 4 of the 6 parks since China is digital and I haven’t been to Hong Kong yet and that ride was AWESOME

As to the middle ground while I agree high price to stay should mean more elegant and upscale the point of a theme park and resort is to immerse guests into an experience you can’t get somewhere else…you don’t pay for a DISNEY cruise and then expect a generic experience you can literally get on any other cruise line…you expect the DISNEY experience and that lobby like the Wilderness rooms with the subtle nods is how to bring the modern refresh while keeping the Disney charm we all know and love

  4. I didn’t realize Disney was listening to guests. I must have missed the episode when you reported crowds clamoring for Genie. As regards the Beach Club lobby, it might be they ran out of linoleum and double-sided tape while finishing the destruction of the Contemporary.

  5. I blame the leader of Disney completely for problems with the governor. Any business leader knows you walk slowly with the Government. Not him. He is arrogant. If trump was Disney boss he would talk problems out like he always did. Such egos are gross.
