Yes there should be criticism for some things but they donāt have be related about politics. For example the movie of dune that came out my mom said they added stuff that she didnāt like but that her opinion, I like the movie personally because they added stuff from the books
I love how you use Pillars of Garbage as someone to represent "positive fandom" and "seeks to have good faith discussions." This dude has several vids about how "insert movie" is bad, just because it doesn't challenge the status quo(aka. it doesn't hate on capitalism enough).
It's getting so bad, with all the hate online…..I've given up on humanity, I truly have. I want SO BAD for the passion I once had to be in the fore-ground. Everytime I see an American flag, I don't see pride, I see hatred, bigotry….just sooooo much hate. I'm fighting for that feeling to be restored, but it is a losing battle.
This anti Fandom stuff as you call it, is one of the best examples of the cult of tradition. It is also a manifestation of the hyper individualist, practically laissez-faire capitalist society we live in

One of the most prominent channels that is starting to be even more aligned with this circle of hate is Tyrone Magnus. He is constantly promoting the Critical Drinker and has been on panels with G&G. SW theory is another highly influential hate spreader who constantly contradicts himself. He initially loved The Last Jedi and now asserts how much he hates it and the sequels as a whole.
I think one the biggest problems around solving this issue lays with the studios. They are giving these channels fodder to thrive. When they are putting minorities in bigger roles, they are often giving them horrible scripts. I feel so sorry for Rose from the The Last Jedi because her character was horribly written. The studios seems to be more concerned with checking off the box rather than putting in effort to give the character something of value, and this is enabling the hatred from the Fandom Menance. I personally disliked what episodes 8 and 9 of SW turned out to be. But I would never raise their failures on a diverse cast…it was just really poor writing. This will all go away if Disney and WB and other studios get their act together and deliver strong content for diverse leads, like how they did with Black Panther.
