  1. I think there is some difference between incels and people who decide to stop having sex because they don't like it, don't like the way most men treat them or something like that. It feels like the issue is that there are some women over there who are pushing back against the way they are valued and sexualized and they would rather not play any part of the game.

  2. Hasan really missed the mark with his take. It's also disturbing that he's amused by women fighting back against patriarchal issues and separating themselves from nasty weirdos. Calling them femcels undermine their work. He sounds like a prick here

  3. I don't find it silly that these women are opting out. They have realistically assessed their situation and have decided that they either are unable or unwilling to fulfill the expectations of their society. They are expected to bring in income, do all the housework, raise the children, take care of their husband like an extra kid and care for his aging parents. If they don't think they can handle that what choice do they have? Capitalism is at the root of the problem but they don't have the time to fix that before they decide.

It's also not as if they have the option to casually date and have no strings sex. There would be no acceptance of a woman who had sex with multiple people with no intention of marriage. You're underestimating the stigma they would experience if they tried that.

  4. he's kind of being asshole here, he's not even trying to empathize with these women. They're not incels, and I don't think these women are doing this because they think it'll be a solution, but because it's the only way they can see themselves maintaining the freedoms they get while single or unmarried. Obviously capitalism plays a huge role but they can't control that. This is all they have the power to do. I wish hasan would take a hint from so many disagreeing with him in chat and approach this in a kinder way

  5. the stinkmaxxers getting insulted when told to shower and pee with the door closed is tragically hilarious

and shows how far women in SK still have to go, when that is the current battle line in public discourse

  6. I don't know if this is just a capitalism thing. I think it doesn't help in terms of alienation and putting pressure on individuals to compete. But in these societies, it's compounded by a lot of 'feudalistic' Confucian stuff that goes into men's attitudes as well. Seriously, I worked in a Japanese office in the 2010s and it was like something from Mad Men. A bunch of guys there are entitled. WGTOW is a bit much but… it's not way too much when you see some of this shit. It's one reason why these kpop looking guys are popular there. They look after themselves, they look gentle and thoughtful, unlikely to get drunk and beat you senseless which is contrasted with some of the options women have there. Of course, in the West we have our own shitty sexist culture with Christianity, the manoshpere and all that nonsense. Capitalism as shitty as it is, is compatible with or may even encourage a kind of weak, minimal, liberal feminism ie women should have the same rights to be corporate drones and make the line go up.

  7. It's less western influence and more ingrained gender norms in east-asian cultures, historically. Sure, the verbiage is reminiscent of western menns, especially during MeeToo, but allot of east asian culture is extreeeeemly patriarchal at its core.

  8. These women aren't incels, and it was really annoying to hear Hasan constantly refer to them as such. Radfems have a history of "giving up on men," which Hasan is obv pretty ignorant of (he doesnt/didnt know what political lesbianism was). Ultimately, I agree with him that separatism isn't productive, but he was being an ass here

  9. Hasan's take is soo……. ugh. As a woman from a developing country, I completely understand the desire to not have any romantic or sexual relationships with men. He says that this way we only support the idea that women's value is in sex and house labour, but what if 90% of men in the country believe that? Entering relationships with them is just becoming a sex doll (as there's not sex ed and they don't believe that women need to be pleasured during sex too) and spending all of your free time on house chores.
Yeah yeah, not all men are like this, but the chance is just too high. Looking for the one normal guy is simply not worth it, because the process of dating and suffering through miserable dates with assholes is awful, or getting to know somebody only to realize months later that they are sexist takes a toll on you. It's easier to just opt out.

  10. I felt dismayed when Hasan said that he would slap his friend the fuck up if they misrepresented his words like the chatter did. The best way I can describe it is feeling a little sick. It was how little it would take for him to, by his own admission, resort to violence against a friend. I don't even think that the chatter was trying to put words in Hasan's mouth I think he just misunderstood.

  11. It's fine to abstsain from involvement with the other sexs if its personal choice. I pretty do the 4 no's willingly, but not for any kind of purpose. I'm just Aromantic and Asexual. I still have freinds from any gender and otherwise people assume I'm a straight man.

I do think there is a larger issue if you are sacrificing your own bodily desires to confront systemic issues. Given the culture, I can see why it might be necessary. I imagine dating and sex in Korea as a woman is not something they can just construct a boundry on, nor can they refuse to care for the parents. Capitalism is a massive part of the issue, but it comes across to me that there's a massive entitlement for men and that needs to be tempered before change can happen.

Hasan is right in the sense that permenant seperation doesn't lead to a positive outcome, but deep-rooted culture issues need to be addressed first of three society wants to change.

Even if they succeeded and implemented socialism, neglecting a large part of the population without coming to an understanding is doomed to repeat itself. Hasan did not approach his comments from an open and curious position and he began to do what he accused his chat if doing to him. Chat is dumb, but he really just assumed everyone was just blinded by kpop and feminism yas queen types. He should have taken a break or moved on to relax and think things over. Completely neglecting the culture portion of the issue lead to the backlash here.

  12. Really disappointed in this take from Hasan. He just decided to write these women off as fringe radicals without understanding anything about their movement.

No this movement probably won't have a larger effect on society I agree with that but guess what it doesn't have to!! These Women are opting out of dating completely because there is no benefit in it for them. They are choosing to live their lives differently than what society tells them they have to. They see how their mothers, grandmothers, and fellow sisters are treated by men and are making a conscious choice to opt out.

Hasan then brings up sex and how 'idiotic' these women are for choosing not to have sex but he doesn't have a clue why they would feel the need not to. Most heterosexual sex is not great for women, not only do men treat women like sexdolls but there is also a huge difference in the orgasm gap. Not to mention the misogyny and slut shaming they'll have to endure within their society.

I really wish Hasan would educate himself more on women's struggles and feminism in general. Unfortunately a lot of leftist men still don't understand the plight women face across the globe.

  13. 11:52 Coming from mexico, I can say that yeah, RadFems are a thing everywhere. I would say however that they're a very small minority of the movement anywhere in the world, but they're very loud. All RadFems have been extremely loud and in your face about their take on feminism, but most women are more chill about it and don't make it their personality

  14. misogyny is just ingrained in east asian collectivist culture, people are supposed to do their role in society and not speak up, I dont think its about capitalism, and it makes sense people want to be separatist and not be in that society, and makes sense that women and lgbt folks there will look to hyper capitalist and liberal america where they are treated way better and want to do that.

  15. Looking at more of the video, this scene in South Korea is alarming. I cannot understand how women can be disproportionally victims of violent crime (89%), but men think that it's women who discriminate against men (79% / 70%).
Violence against women is somewhat similar to what happens in Mexico, but the violence against women is so out of control here that a lot of men are aware of it because it has happened to a family member or a friend, which would make me hopeful that the number of idiot men wouldn't be as high. (also I hope it doesn't need to get to that point for men to notice there as well)

  16. Jesus crispy, someone’s grouchy innit. Mr Hasan, you probs need to have to take a beat, have a thinkity think & talk to someone from the pov you seem to not understand. Relaxxxxx mate & try to contextualise it from ALL angles yeah?

Femicide rates are soaring so it’s not radical to assume men are violent to protect ourselves. Look at the Black femicide rates in your country & in African countries like South Africa & try to understand why dating isn’t seen as fun anymore & might not be worth it. Withholding sex isn’t necessarily depriving oneself of “wondrous pleasure” as you simply put it esp with the orgasm gap, FEMICIDE & men likely being unpleasant beings due to them being the lesser empathetic & duller sex … due to patriarchy, white supremacy …… capitalism.

So……… essentially your argument literally proves the point of that stance. You can’t blame an oppressed group from staying away from the oppressor. Dating leads to sex which leads to children. Children…. another oppressed group! Do you get it? This is a spiral of a lot of sh!t & if you think women staying away from men is simply a “political statement” or just some way to spite men or just “silly” then talk to someone properly.

I’m not even coming from the stance myself but I UNDERSTAND it & agree w it.

Don’t be so over emotional & take it so personal ffs. Fan or not, people are allowed to express themselves. You being hard headed won’t help progress the things you seemingly shout to care about.

  17. Hasan calling these women incels while also trying to appeal to an american audience of actual incel young men is priceless. I love hasans content 95%, but how he refuses to see his own biased misogyny and homophobia is getting super old. Of course capitalism is the main problem, but they cant defeat that until they get the respect they deserve.

  18. there are generations of sexual trauma here, not to be taken lightly. the longest running protest in the world, on every wednesday, is held in seoul, korean women asking for japan to apologize for the sexual violence, exploitation, (making korean women 'comfort girls' etc) from the war. in general, there isn't much awareness around mental health and trauma. calling women incels robs them of historical context which is an ironic detour from hasan's usual standards for anaylsis. that's why I should be the f anti-hasan (only cuz im a greek woman)

  19. So I guess these feminist South Korean women are lining up for forced consciption as well to fight against a Nuclear North Korea?? Or do South Korean feminists believe that only men should be used as cannon fodder? In South Korea's case, military threats are real, so there should definitely be a talk about women getting drafted if they want equality.

  20. Hasan really needs to stop talking about Japan and Korea like they have no political agency. He couldn't descibe the political systems of those countries at all and has almost no grasp of the history or contemporary issues. It is possible to just watch something like this video and not feel the need to draw grand conclusions from the one line about the CIA in the wikipedia article he read.

  21. Why should men care about society or women's issues when society feels entitled to their life and labor? Since Korea has mandatory military service for young men. I don't think women in Korea are forced to have sex with men? It's clear that men's bodily autonomy is more actively disregarded. And I know for a fact that many on the left are ok with this or don't care about it.

  22. Women are over this bullshit. We were lied to to think we will find a one true love and live happily ever after. But happily ever after is just emotional labour, domestic labour, pregnancy and mistreatment. Yeah no, rather be single and work on my retirement fund.

  23. Wow, Hasan's audience is young AF. They haven't even heard of MGTOW, they were the incels of the gamer-gate era, and this WGTOW is literally the exact same verbiage. Cope, mfers.
