Felon attacks US judge moments after claiming he’s ’not committing crimes’ anymore

A convicted felon attacked a judge in court moments after pleading with her not to send him to jail for battery because he’s ‘not committing crimes’ any more. Deobra Redden leaped over the judge’s bench and attacked Judge Mary Kay Holthus in Las Vegas, speaking a brawl which fortunately left the judge with only light injuries. Redden, 30, was taken back to jail after the attack and is now facing new charges. They include battery on a protected person, which can result in a four year jail term. Redden was being sentenced to attempted battery at the time of the attack, and has previously served time in jail for domestic battery, court records show.

  1. Theses Judges keep releasing these felons, as if they live in a cocoon protected from these criminals while their victims KEEP getting victimized. Now she gets a small taste of reality of what’s actually going on out there. Oh well.

  2. Just to point out, while he was talking he was so heavily using manipulative hand gestures, probably trying to convince himself of what he was saying and in attempt to convince others. I think the lawyer told him to do that..

  3. So, he had a previous charge for battery on a protected person . . . Security really should have been upped in that courtroom, although in all fairness, I guess no one would’ve predicted he’d jump that bench.

  4. The physics of the leap are kind of amazing. The kind of mental commitment to go full flying squirrel UP and over an obstacle is sort of un-human. This guy is both a tremendous athlete and must lack completely mental inhibitions. Dangerous person.
