People shouldn’t be in danger of trading their lives for the wildlife they try to save in the road. Any one with a driver’s license should be tried as an adult for these crimes, even if a minor.
But how fast was the 17 year old going to where she didnt have time to stop? Also whatbwas she doimg where she couldn't see him? I ask this because i drive that street, and she could of seen from a distance away.
This is very sad in so many ways. We see more and more videos of people being kind and assisting animals crossing the street. Let this serve as a reminder to everyone to be extra cautious while helping an animal anywhere. All of us have, at one time or another, not paid attention while driving. My heart goes out to everyone impacted by this, including the driver, whose life will never be the same. May this kind man`s soul rest in peace.
This is so sad…..for all involved. All the nasty comments about the girl, do you this this Kind hearted man would want his death to cause all the hatred? It's dishonoring him and his memory to do so. We don't know yet what happened exactly nor what caused her to do this. This interviewed only a 12 year old. No adults and not a police officer or chief. I feel so sorry for her. 17 yrs old. And killing someone. She will have that moment haunt her for the rest of her life and all the what if's etc. That is a whole lotta years to live with that guilt. On that courner with the flowers, it would be nice to make a monument to kindhearted humanity and acts of kindness there. Maybe a statue taken from on of these photos where he is "shooing" (for lack of a better word) the ducks like that. God bless his family and his soul.
My condolences to the family of this good man. The driver probably part of the new generation of idiots who was texting on the phone and not paying attention……
American Road design is so terrible, why do you even need 6 lanes in a suburban area like that?
Road design has a large part to play on road safety, wider roads encourage higher speeds and less caution whilst multiple lanes serve to hide people and vehicles from sight behind the vehicles in other lanes
America needs to change something. Getting a driver's license shouldn't be that easy. In Germany you have to go to school called Fahrschule (drive school) and also take many practical lessons with a driving instructor (called Fahrlehrer). Then you have to pass a difficult test. And before the age of 18 you are not allowed to drive unaccompanied (the accompaniment even has to be registered).
Its sad that this happened. Maybe the driver who hit him didn't see the crouching man nor was ready to have to avoid someone in an intersection as they were proceeding with their right of way. That's why they're called accidents . Terrible for the man and on another level terrible for the witnesses and the young driver who hit him.
Okay i get he "did the right thing" but after he accomplished that was he IN the right to walk across? Like I get the other driver NEEDS to pay attention aswell but it feels like this story is missing something. No matter WHAT! I ALWAYS FOCUS even if its my time to cross the road I still make sure no car is "coming out of nowhere!" Yea idk something is missing here.

Hope he had all his ducks in a row
Heartbreaking. 🇬🇧
As heartbreakingly sad as it is putting yourself in mortal danger to help ducks, potentially leaving your own kids orphans, is not a very smart move.
No good deed goes unpunished.
We lost a good person in this 90% evil world.
"Police are still investigating the cause of the fatality. The driver has not been ticketed or arrested."

This boy is right. It is indeed not fair. Thankfully this boy has this man's same kindness inside him.

Extremely sad 😢😢😢
Women
Teenage should not allow driving
WTF!!! That senseless driver should be put to jail…..

Women can’t drive
All those ducks are probably dead already.
What? She should be arrested!!!!
This whole scenario is like a really dark cut away gag on Family Guy
Facedesk
I think now that teens aha more distractions like phones , they should not be able to get their licenses till 18
young stupid drivers
Hmmm a lady most like going over 50 mph and is more focused on her phone instead of driving. I can picture how he got hit like i was there ……………
Driver should be charged with murder and attempted murder of wildlife.
Who is the man. Why isn’t he being named?
American stroads will kill the entire world eventually.
