According to Kenner Police, Melvin McClinton Sr. succumbed to his injuries sustained from a suicide attempt, following the death of his three-year-old son.

There's no excuse for killing an innocent 3 year old child… your own child at that and in front of his mother. How can he talk about gun violence after his son was murdered and yet commit the same violence on his own innocent baby? If he felt he wanted to take his own life because of his grief, fine that's his to take but killing his baby was selfish af and it wasn't done out of love at all. He has anothor son and now that son will have to deal with his own grief of losing two brothers and his father…selfish af. His brother was there and said he left the house because he didn't want to get involved in their fight. I'm not saying he could have done anything but maybe removing the brother in the heat of the argument to cool down might have turned things around. Not blaming him but sometimes a cooler head can difuse a situation. That's neither here nor there now tho. I pray for his son that's alive, the mother of the murdred baby and the family that lost both of these children. It's very sad. May both children rest in peace.

We can’t judge anyone,because we don’t know how badly he was hurting! He was constantly crying out for help,but we be too busy thinking everything a joke until it’s too late. Mental illness is real,and I know this because I battle with it.. No it’s no excuse for him killing his 3year old,but at the same time we don’t know what overcame that! However,you can tell he was a God fearing man yet allowed satan in and couldn’t get away from him.. If you don’t have kids,or know how it feels to loose a child then you wouldn’t understand his pain!!!!
