Fat Activists SHAME New Year Weight Loss Goals | Beatrice Caruso

Today I wanted to touch on new year resolutions, many fat activists through the year will warn people not to lose weight. During the new year the turn that into hyper drive because diet companies are out here promoting intentional weight loss. I found it interesting that Beatrice Caruso openly says her new years resolution is a weight loss goal! In 2022, weight loss and goal is a big NO NO, to the fat activist community.

  1. If anyone else is down here looking for more tips, here’s one on how to stick to whatever resolution or habit you wanna create. ✨Sticker Chart✨ the amount of happiness I get everyday when I get to stick some shiny smiley faces on a piece of paper is slightly embarrassing but it works for me ❤

  2. I started trying to lose weight back in 2019, like August? It took me about 2 years to lose 110 lbs, and yeah it was definitely long and there were times where I felt like I was failing/plateauing but if I hadn’t stuck to my plans while experiencing the discomfort I did I wouldn’t be anywhere near as healthy as I am now. I get accused of being malnourished all the time, but my blood and lab test disagree LOL!

  3. The best thing I ever learned about motivation is that motivation comes from doing. So if you don’t feel like doing something, just start doing it anyway and the motivation will come.

  4. I also deleted social media off my phone, I will only download maybe once a week to check in and post art from the week, and honestly it’s the best habit I’ve ever implemented. It’s been about a year and I’m not going back.

  5. Dang, I’m the opposite. Last year my goal was to get fit/ skinny. Went from 163 to 134 by hiking with my dogs everyday after work/ doing core exercises with weighted balls. Wasn’t really a gym person unless I’m with a bunch of people, I need an accountable buddy at the gym. When hiking, I just enjoy it and somehow end up at 9 miles with my dogs. I just enjoy the scenery, and how it feels to have your lungs super open inhaling fresh air. Lol now I’m pregnant and the doc says I have to gain 25lbs for my pregnancy 😭. I’ve gained 7 pounds at 20weeks but it’s a struggle tryna make myself eat cuz I get scared imma go back to binge eating.

  6. In 2015 my goal was to learn English (I'm Brazilian), and now here I am watching a YouTube video with no subtitles and chilling in the comments section 😆 my only goal for 2023 was going to a gym, for the first time in my life, I wanna have more muscle, I started in January, it's going pretty well.

  7. there's tons of other new years resolutions
like read a book each week
plan to save money every month
learn a new skill each month
    learn another language
and so on, just having any goal would change these people's attitude towards life, because they'd work towards something. Knowing how to work towards a certain goal is a skill many people are missing that is actually very important in a lot of things, it's a challenge and we need challenges like this.
having a mindset of " I'm not gonna make it anyway " is so damaging

  8. Becoming healthier should be everyone's goal…whether that is weight loss/gain, reducing alcohol, increasing excercise etc etc. Shaming people trying to become healthier is wrong and it's a dangerous and irresponsible message to send to the younger (more impressionable) audience on social media, just like fat/skinny shaming is equally wrong, we can encourage people without being jerks about it!
We need to do better and stop taking the lazy way out…and make no mistake, this 'body positivity' ridiculousness is the lazy way out.

  9. I can't talk to my MIL about weight loss or eating at all. She constantly turns it into what I should or shouldn't be doing. It was so frustrating because I knew what I needed to do for myself since I had lost weight in the past. But it still sucked all the motivation out of me.

  10. I would punch somone in the face if they laughed at me for getting healthy. Am not even 28 yet and already have hypertension and a heart condition I was born with. Most of my family members have died from heart failure. I'm like 5'9" and somewhere around 200lbs I'm not getting healthy cuz I think I'm fat I'm getting healthy so I don't die at 40 like my aunt did. Fitting in my clothes in a more flattering way is just a bonus.

  11. Hey Michelle, i messaged you on insta this morning, with something very vulnerable. If you could take 2 secs to read it, you will see how your vids are positively affecting people from other continents. Love ❤️

  12. My fitness goal is to be able to do 5 whole push ups by the end of the year. Right now, I can barely do one on my knees.

It’s simple, but something to keep working towards. And, I can practice push ups almost everywhere, and almost every day.

  14. I can only speak for myself, but 12 yrs or so, I stopped "trying to lose weight." Instead, I wanted to feel better. So, I learned to cook better, eat better, move more, and little things like that. It worked, again for me, to learn to treat me better. I lost the weight.

  15. In need of help, I have PCOS and am on a calorie deficit diet, to try an shed at least 30kg. I am currently stuck at only a 5kg weight loss and now the scales just wont budge. I eat 1200 calories a day and make sure everything that I consume doesn't get past my food scale.

  16. Getting better at a specific movement in my sport. Maintaining my gains from last year. Getting up earlier or going to bed earlier. Eating more “X” or less “Y”.
I have many goals that don’t involve digits on the random number generator.

  17. My new year's resolution has been the same for the last 4 years: To get straight As in all my classes.

This year I did not succeed. I failed and am having to repeat a course. Real blow to the self esteem, but… well, such is life, I suppose… wish me luck for the retake I'm doing this semester, yeah?

  18. That woman speaks like you can't do anything else if you are exercising and eating healthy. I am an astrophysicist and go to the gym, I like to see my body in a certain way and to accomplish that I eat healthy and exercise, still I do science and its a great complement. I read lots of books and that doesn't make me exercise any less.

  19. “Do something interesting with your life”
Girl you are filming a 30 second video with a lazy angle from your bed. It doesn’t even have to be interesting, at this point I’d be impressed if you did something. Anything.

  21. My goal is to be intentional this year; if I say I’m going to do something, I will do it, not just talk about it. Yes, I want to lose weight, so I set my goal as being intentional about how I eat, how I exercise. I want to improve on my job (I had a great year last year!) so I will be intentional on addressing the goals my boss and I set at the beginning of the year, not just speculate about what I could do.

  22. I hv a friend who was 120 kgs. He set himself a 3-year goal to lose it, then a 1-year goal, then a month, then a week. All within the context of his long-term plan. He's dropped almost 40 kilos during that time. The key was, while in some weeks he'd meet his goal and in other weeks he wouldn't, as long as he was on track for the year, he wouldn't sweat it. Setting unrealistic, unreasonable goals and then exerting frantic amounts of energy in the beginning then burning yourself out, well then, you're bound to fail. Successful weight loss should be a marathon not a sprint.

  23. Back in 2010, my new year's goal was to try being vegetarian.
13 years later, I'm still vegetarian.
This new year resolution is too go back to my normal weight (I gained 36 pounds due to depression and anxiety over the last 3 years). As of today, I already lost 6 pounds. It's not easy, but it's not impossible. 😊

  24. I'm not even finished with the video lol but THAT PART where you said if you don't enjoy it you won't do it! My friend is a personal trainer on the side and he would try to help me but his major recommendation was always hours and hours of steady state cardio and I hate stuff like that. It's super boring to me. I would do fun upbeat dance and HIIT videos where I'm still doing cardio for 30+ minutes but he was still always pushing cardio. I told him I wanted to build muscle in my core and booty but instead of teaching me how to build muscle he would recommend 45 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical or something and only 15 minutes of weights like I'm not going to workout if I'm spending 75% of my time on the treadmill 🙄. I would often go on and off with him (currently off indefinitely) cause I just hated his coaching style
