  1. This was campy fun… and I have some issues with that, but hey… it's what the people want. Next one is rather fun as well… ugh. In all seriousness though, as good as these were they're not technically part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Which is a shame because you get a lot of characters co-star with them in the comics, but alas… the movies treat them as their own thing. Keep watching though, I think you'll enjoy them..

  2. I've always seen Victor von Doom as the rough Marvel equivalent of Lex Luthor. As a huge FF fan, I will admit I didn't mind this version. Mumble mumble Jessica Alba mumble mumble. It was closer to the comics than the first Fox X-Men films at least, and although nothing will compare to Roger Corman's (RIP) 1994 version, this is still a guilty pleasure of mine. And both are superior to the appallingly bad 2015 film.

  3. This is a better movie than I remember or most give it credit for. In the comics Stan Lee used his creation of the Fantastic Four to revinvent Marvel comics and that's why they made everything in the MCU of today possible. Now you can at least watch Deadpool and Wolverine.

  4. A thing to keep in mind with Evans is that this wasn't made as part of the Disney MCU. This movie, like the X-Men movies, was a part of the 20th Century Fox Marvel Universe. So it wasn't really a consideration for Disney when they cast Evans as Cap several years later.

  5. The lack of anything making sense physics wise makes this nothing but a cartoon. Fox Studios got away with it because they were not bound by an obligation to make any sense as it compares to the actual Marvel characters. The MCU cannot and I repeat CANNOT have the FF look this cartoonish. I said all along that The Thing and Mr. Fantastic do not work in live action where they are bound by actual physics like the MCU claims it is. They have to make their powers look and feel real. I don't know how they do that. Sue and Johnny are easy. It's the other two that I have high suspicions on how they do in live action without looking ridiculous. Korg is meant to be a joke and a tongue in cheek to exactly what I'm saying. We'll see if they can pull it off.

  6. They made a sequel to this movie. As far as it went. In the early 90s they made a fantastic four movie, but never officially released it as it was made cheaply to not void the contract to make future movies with the characters. But the actors of that one took their roles seriously, thinking the film would be released, and a lot of the fans from the comics think it is more comic accurate. Think it's still available on YouTube if you look for it, along with videos about that movie.. it was somehow released on a bootleg VHS tape back in the day… How, nobody knows.

  7. This is the franchise that should have kicked off the whole Marvel Universe but for some reason Stan Lee let these idiots do it. I've been invested with all these Marvel characters since the early 1960's and this was a giant disappointment. Hopefully now that Disney has the rights, they will do it right like the Avengers. To give you an idea, whenever Tony Stark couldn't figure out something he went to Reed Richards who basically was considered the smartest man on Earth and had ALL the cool gadgets.

  8. Reed and Storm's eventual child (which I think we've yet to see in film) is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, with so much control over molecular structures and telekinesis that he can even create pocket universes and such. He's supposed to be on the same level as Celestials, more or less.

  9. Michael Chiklis in particular deserves a lot of credit for his portrayal of Bem Grimm. He is apparently a big comic book fan and was the one who advocated for makeup and prosthetics. The costume was reportedly hell for him to wear, but the result is probably the best depiction of The Thing we've gotten in live-action so far

  10. In the comics Doctor Doom doesn't have metal skin. He wears a suit like Iron Man. Also he has magic powers like Doctor Strange. Basically what you'd get if you combined Iron Man and Doctor Strange but made him an evil, world conquering badass.

  11. Really like these films, rightly or wrongly. It was a shock when I watched Captain America. The clever visuals of the teams powers being shown in the aura as the storm hits them are great IMO πŸ‘

  12. In the comics, Ben named himself β€œThe Thing,” and Reed assumed he was giving himself a superhero name, so he said β€œAnd I’ll be Mr. Fantastic!” Yeah… Reed has never been good at reading the room (autism representation FTW!)
