Fantasia Barrino Wants 'Color Purple' Musical To Do Right By The Original

Fantasia Barrino has been living with the musical version of The Color Purple for several years now, starring both in the Broadway production in 2007 and one of its touring companies in 2010 before being given the opportunity to take the lead role in the new film version. The new film has more than just the story linking it to the original film β€” both Steven Spielberg, who directed the 1985 film, and Oprah Winfrey, who starred in it, are producers on the new film. Barrino says that, when she was making the new version of The Color Purple, she absolutely wanted the new movie to be respectful to the first film.

The Color Purple is playing now in theaters.

  1. This is the younger people color purple as a older woman. The classic I always will love that 1. But I can't appreciate the new one. The new generation one you have to have an open mind. We know how the the original goal is. Ok, but I'm glad that my grandson and his friends get to watch the new version. They washed it the classic 2. But I think my grandson said the best. He can appreciate this more. The first one was 2 complicated for him. Just was more understanding for him so yeah. I I think them for making this movie.

  3. The Color Purple was reupholstered. There is only one and there is absolutely nothing wrong with paying homage! Another thing, if Lin can bring music theater to the big screen, so can we! Aye!!!! πŸŽ‰πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ
