During The Fallout Series we as players have been exposed to a long list of remarkable technologies. A few that come to mind are The Big Mountain Transportalponder and The Institute’s Molecular Relay which can teleport people in the blink of an eye from one place to another, and The Garden of Eden Creation Kit or GECK which can transform on demand a barren plot of land into a veritable oasis. But something that is hardly ever seen in Fallout is Time Travel and while it is incredibly rare to see it does appear quite a few times throughout the series.

  1. Im waiting for the event of Someone Pre-war made a machine and ended up in the wasteland and asks the protagonist for some materials to fix it and after the protagonist fixes it the time traveler gets in and disappears with nothing else happening.

  2. I dont think they could do a time travel plot that involves preventing the great war even if they wanted to. The world was on the verge of ending regardless of the bombs going off due to the rapidly increasing scarcity of resources. If anything the war ended up being an ironic way to actually save humanity from itself by plunging the world back into the dark ages and, more importantly, thinning the population down enough to where the little resources left ended up being enough to get by on until the earth could naturally replenish itself.

  3. If a time travel storyline like the one you posited were ever incorporated, I think it would work best one of two ways.

    One, with the premise being that of a self-correcting timeline – one in which any changes attempted in the past might have some minor effect but all they achieve is forestalling the future to prevent a paradox. Time travel could not be invented, after all, if the impetus to create and use it (the Great War) had not occurred. This has potential for subjecting the player(s) to multiple potential timelines as they attempt to effect a change which the space/time continuum simply won't allow them to. This is not something that's often laid out explicitly in sci-fi as a concept but it could be interesting even though it largely strips the protagonist(s) of agency in their actions. The drama here would come from acceptance of how history will unfold and that it cannot be avoided – only survived.

    Two, similarly tragic and futile but from a different angle. Changes made in the past do take effect and the War is averted and/or the US is able to claim total victory over the PRC. The narrative to follow is that this does not solve the ills of the Pre-War world but rather compounds them. The corruption and imperialism of those still-extant nation is allowed to fester. Any combination of continued tension between remaining nuclear powers, unimpeded and unchecked FEV / bioweapons research, or other unforeseen horrors leads to a future where humanity indeed goes extinct. In similar fashion to concept One, the player(s) can attempt to make changes to avoid this but the only way to do so is by preserving the Great War timeline. There could even be a twist in the form of another time traveler from one of the alternate futures of humanity on the path to extinction helping you to restore the original flow of history even though it will lead to them vanishing from existence.

I can't watch other fallout YouTube now because your format is so perfect it feels wrong to learn about fallout lore from anyone else. You put a lot of effort into your videos and it shows and that's what keeps pulling me in. I can't wait for our next fallout story

    Bethesda is a company of shit sacks without value. The world would be a better place if Todd Howard and the rest of his team would all lock themselves in the corporate offices before lighting the building on fire.

  7. Just under the Pylon V13 ''Time Machine'' is a skeleton on the ground, I find it likely that the skeleton is of Professor Greebly after testing his time machine only to fall to the ground and dying a horrible agonizing death.

  8. I wish there was a mod for New Vegas andor fallout 4 for the Guardian of forever, it could just randomly take players to an early save or something. Since it was in Fallout 1 it be canon , or in this case cross-canon, including other Treknology like crashed galileo shuttles or lost phasers. And because all the time-traveling in star trek going back to world war 3 its a clean conceptual graft

  9. My theory for the Mysterious Stranger is that he is an alternate reality of us, and its for the best interest of all multiverses that we do the things we did in this timeline for the stability of all of em..

  10. Nah, I think Greebly's time travel device worked just fine and they made several successful trips. The damage was caused by something that followed them back from one of their journeys and is still out there… *somewhere*.

  11. Technically, the very "real" and "plausible" time travel we see in the game are statis pods at vault 112 and in general, and cryogenic freezing. Especially the cryosleep. After all, even though the world has passed a 210 years, the Sole Survivor does not physically look or feel a single day older than the day they were frozen.

  12. Pylon V13 worked, but in the wrong way.

    By pressing the button in the future you sent a charge to the past killing the man who made the time machine because he didn't expect the time machine to turn itself on before he was ready to use it.

If you are familiar with RPG Maker, I had tried using it to make a version of Fallout 4, had a idea that your character would time travel to help guarantee the settlement of Diamond City, other places. Those peoples that you use the radio beacons to find, mother and son in the derailed train car, etc. Could maybe save them and have them brought to settlements. Build the settlement up, take materials from old stores and hospitals. Could choose to start the game off at a high level which would lock in decent perks or start at a low level which would allow for more perks and better stats long term. Under the pretense that you might be a synth yourself, a clone. Another taking your place in current day fallout 4 would mean very little. Especially if it turns out that you were supposed to do this to guarantee the events of the future. Maybe even have little things be optional like finding lost toys and posing them. The GARY blocks. Just to mess with your future self and the viewers.

    Never finished as the tutorials I had to sit through were insufferable to begin with but then, most of the available assets were all fantasy elves and Dragons level material and not anything fallout adjacent. So, I lost patience but stand by that I would love to play that game still.

    Imagine playing legend of Zelda 2 on the nes with the top down view and having to go around, having battles with raiders and so forth, leveling you up but this is how you find keys, useful information if you are able to say, interrogate individuals. Enough time in a game cell means locations become available so you can enter in and sack resources while still leveling up. Backtracking when say, power is restored to an area to gain further access and again, radio becons, hidden areas, more loot.

    Someday, I hope to try again. But with a job that runs 5 and mostly 6 day work weeks with hours averaging around 12 to 15 hours q shift, it's going to be a while before I can really be borhered.

  14. Well you can trip on the idea of back in time and found yourself in Skym, why? Because on Fallout 4 you found Nirnroot in one location with the name "Experiment NRT-0001, or "Glowleaf.". This plant only existis in Skyrim. In Fallout 4 its says it was "found" by a Brotherhood of Steel Scribe, but is the Brotherhood and we know they are full of sh1t
