Washington is the Evergreen State, but for a few brief weeks each fall, there’s a gold rush in the mountains. Correspondent Conor Knighton travels to where foliage fans bask in the vibrant colors of the larch tree, a deciduous conifer whose pine-like needles are ablaze in orange and yellow.

Oh! Wow! That’s so awesome! I didn’t know! Those larches are so gorgeous!
Heavenly 🍂🍁
Absolutely Gorgeous
bit if they saw the color on the East Coast like New York New Hampshire ,or Vermont their head would explode😂
So pretty, gold splendor ❤
I just turned in to Sunday Morning 10-20-24-8:00am-Chicago Il……it’s a rerun and not just any rerun, they start out with a warm heart felt story about Whales……. then the knife comes out in the back for President Trump by introducing Bob Woodward and his book………. What’s wrong or bad about giving a life saving machine to a human who has his finger on nuclear Armageddon?……Maybe his human heart will remember that President Trump offered an olive branch. I will vote for President Trump because He is unconventional, He didn’t even draw a paycheck when he was president. Every other president got Super rich when they got into politics, how do you do that on a government paycheck? Look up their net worth before and after, Bush,Clinton’s,Obama……That’s right Bob, Trump looks after himself……….before he became president, the other guys did it after they became president…… just an observation from a 63 year old uneducated Mexican American.
Another bucket list destination. Incredible!
maple pass vibes
Amazing story – thanks guys !!!
Goodness, just so beautiful.
I love it that he got married with a yellow tie to match the color of the larches.
We spend approximately 15 million a year in Minnesota looking at the dead leaves no we have dead needle to look for.
Magnificent!
💛
So worth it! Glorious. ❤
It’s already too many people on the trail 😢
Gorgeous. And classic CBS SM vibes 😌 ☀️

How did they not through in a Monty Python reference, "The Larch!" 😂
I’m there! ❤️
3:29 what are drinking doe ????? 🥃
I have Western Larch next to my pump house . I love the change in colors.
The mountainsides all around North Idaho are dotted with Larch, Birch, and Aspen, all in blazing contrast to thousands of acres of evergreen coniferous forest. I love this time of year.
I remember walking through a gold forest in the Enchantments. Absolute magic glow surrounded.
Age 60 and I'm just learning this wow should be in our school
Beautiful.
They grow in swampy areas in rural Wisconsin. Lovely trees.
I'm sure the urge for CBS to bring up climate change somehow in this story was hard to pass up!
