Fairey Gannet
Royal Naval Air Service
My favourite aircraft of the era.
The Fairey Gannet was a British carrier-borne aircraft developed in the 1950s for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and fleet reconnaissance roles. Operated primarily by the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy, the Gannet played a pivotal role in the UK’s maritime strategy during the Cold War, providing the Royal Navy with a reliable and effective ASW and airborne early warning (AEW) platform.
