One look at the picture- before I wven started the video- I knew it was Radium.
I remember the jaw-less Byers photo floating around the internet a while before people knew his story. Some would try to guess what the story was behind the photo. The most memorable guess (not mine) that I can recall was that he was a civil war soldier who got shot in the mouth with a cannonball.
When i was in grade school around 1965 our school nurse had heavy wide tape across her jaw and most of her mouth except a small corner of her mouth – i saw her in the cafeteria one day trying to eat chili thru that small corner of her mouth- i felt sorry for her! Rest in peace miss boyer!
