  1. Once again; Jack, your beautiful and empathetic retelling of these harrowing events has captivated me from start to finish. As seemlessly crafted as part one and two. I await part four with intrepid anticipation.

Thank you for handling these stories and events with such class and respect.

  2. Brilliant video! Heard about it through peter's post… didnt know about just how violent pironi's crash was! 30m in the air is insane! I imagine alain may have been exaggerating a bit but even so! Youve earnt yourself another subscriber here 🙂

  3. The hell are they doing, driving THROUGH the path of a fire hose. At some point, it's not risk, it's… What the actual…

Look, I know security standards were different, but that is mad footage. At some point, you have to ask what on Earth people were thinking.

  4. Great video!

I read somewhere Dider Pironi also didn't return to F1 in 1986 as he would have had to give back all the insurance money he received after the accident. How true this is I'm not sure.

Also, his partner was pregnant at the time of his death, and later gave birth to twin boys, who were named Didier and Gilles. Gilles joined Mercedes AMG Petronas as an engineer in 2014; and even accepted the constructor's trophy on the podium following the 2020 British Grand Prix

There's something really striking about that photo of the burnt car. Idk if it's the lens, the way it's cropped, but something about that composition feels eerily modern. It almost looks like it was taken vertically on a phone just recently.

This whole thing has been incredible and this series feels like something that can be referenced and viewed for years to come. Thank you.

  6. We tend to think of all F1 drivers as "heroes" in many ways, risking their lives for glory etc., but in a very real sense the true heroes are people like Hailwood and Purley. What they did goes far beyond anything else that happens in this silly little sport we're all obsessed with, throwing themselves into flames for the sake of another and with little regard for their own safety. These are people you would want by your side during any hard situation in life. They are heroes to humanity.

  7. Thank for yet another brillant installment of this series. Not that I expected anything different 😉

As previous commenters already stated, the further delving into history of circuits and drivers made for a very enjoyable watch–I'll refraint from getting too wordy.

Just one more thing…regarding the Jacky Ickx accident. Excuse my French, but…What. The. Actual. Flying. Fuck. I know Formula 1 was … different in the 70s/80s but … spraying FOAM over the track and not stopping the race? What was the point?! Surely a short interruption would have been made for a better audience experience … seriously, WTF. It doesn't make any sense.

  8. After the crash at Zandvort. Jackie Stewart had a 'hospital trailer' built with a Ford truck that was driven around the European tracks in the 60s & 70s and cost in that era, 10 thousand pounds of Jackie Stewart'😮😊s own money.

  9. There will never be another Senna. "Race be damned, bro's in trouble" <stops on a live track and jumps out of his car and is the first on the scene and holds him> 🏃👨‍🚒 class act his whole career.

  10. Love this content, yeah the other videos do nothing for respect like yours do. I have been looking into 3d modeling and simulations for fun, and realized its sorta similar to how making F1 and other super quick racing safer. I take these videos as inspiration to try and improve on racer safety like cars, materials, aerodynamics, and most importantly the cockpit. I love high adrenaline racing but nobody should have to die for it! I want us all to be able to scream like a rocket down the track with absolutely no worries… not even the crowd has to worry.

  11. After i thoroughly enjoyed Episode 1 and Episode 2, despite the fact the sheer sadness they brought along, i was looking forward to Episode 3 and i wasn't disappointed. So much better then the average F1 documentary. The details, the stories, the horror. THE best series of F1 documentary out there. Fantastic material, some of the moments i remembered, some of them were new to me. What a fine piece of work you promised us….AND delivered! Kudoos 🙂

  12. Although I always knew Pironi had a career ending crash in 1982, I never knew the details of it and it actually shocked me. Almost 30 meters up is unbelievable, very hard to believe. Must have been absolutely horrifying for Didier, and for Prost aswell. Alain said he still thinks of Didier’s flying Ferrari when he is driving slow on wet tarmac… One of a few crashes were there is no foottage of the crash itself (although I probably wouldn't have even wanted to see the footage). He is the real ‘82 World Champion❤❤
