See the F-4 Phantom, the original Top Gun jet, like never before with air-to-air action footage, flying inverted and formation, going supersonic, knifing ridge tops. Hear the howling fiery engines, and more!
I was a test cell tech in the Navy in the early 70's. I tested and worked on hundreds of the engines in the Phantom 2. I got to stand in the test cell and check for leaks while it was running.
Don't get me wrong, F-4 Phantom bad ass plane. But Top Gun plane my sweet Aunt. Didn't even have a gun. Get it. Top Gun, & it didn't even have one . Secretary of this , Admiral of making bad decisions. Try and remember this. KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. No fucking gun, thanks a lot idiots. You cost a lot of American lives to perish because you wanted to be all missile like. Stupid people.
They have a warbird museum in Titusville Florida that I went to they have a F4 Phantom sitting there and I didn't realize just how big these airplanes really are oh my God it's worth going there
WOW Great video guys. I was an airman in the 70s and worked on the RF-4Cs from Bergstrom AFB. Not sure but 002, (BALLS 2) sure does look familiar. This really brings back some memories. Thanks! Loved it…
Great video but too much focus on the Pilot. This was a crew jet that needed 2 aviators to do the mission. And yes, a few rules were violated in the flying scenes.
Why is 33% of the video frame cropped out? This was not a native 16:9 production. I don't understand why anyone would throw away a full third of their video production.
Nope. It wasn't the "Original Top Gun Fighter Jet. The F-4 was designed as an all-weather fleet defense interceptor NOT a fighter nor a bomber as the Navy already had the A-4 for ground attack and the F=8 for dog fighting. Hence the F-4's heavy wing loading (relatively poor maneuverability and no gun) because it was NOT intended to dog fight.
Greetings: I lived in LVNV, (actually on the lake), many years in the 70s. I went out 2 Nellie every chance I could. Ppl were amazed I could identify boats and aircraft, amongst other things, by their sounds. Indeed the F4 was not a hard ident. It always has been my favourite fighter jet. It is such a shame 2 C it retired. Thx Nellie crew. Great job Jim. I depart with my salute. 82nd AZ ANG Ret'd.
Good video

Pierre Sprey talked a lot of smack about this aircraft. This was back before people found out what a scum sucking con artist he was.

Beat it into a plowshare. Beat all weapons into useful tools. Be the change the world needs to see. Just be.

When I look at machines of this calibre I think of how many millimetres the fools to off the north Pole in terms of retracting ice 🧊 😳
Nice Machine though
I was stationed at NAS Miramar fighter town USA plane captain VF-121 San Diego 68-72 before it became top gun😮

While in the Navy I fixed the AWG-10 and AWG-10A radar for the F4-J's from 1975 – 1978.

THUMBS DOWN for stealing someone else's video.
Had to laugh when the subtitles in English came on for the British pilot speaking English , 😂😂😂😂😂😂💀
Ad shows a USAF F-4E but again, the ‘top gun’ click bait. No Top Gun in USAF….FWS…”TopGun”=USN
فانتومها هرگز نمیمیرند. فیلم بسیار قشنگی گذاشتین خیلی استفاده کردم ممنونم
