Eye In The Sky : The SOFIA 747 | #DeepDive



Developed by NASA and DLR, the aircraft was called the “Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy”, or SOFIA for short. It was designed as a flying space and atmospheric observatory, replacing the previous NASA observatory, a Lockheed C-141 Starlifter. Let’s dive deep into SOFIA’s history!
