The Terracotta Warriors Museum, officially known as the Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s Mausoleum Site Museum, is a must-visit destination in Xi’an, China. Discovered in 1974 by local farmers, the museum houses the Terracotta Army, a collection of life-sized clay sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China.
The history of the museum begins with the construction of the mausoleum in 246 BC, which took about 38 years to complete. The Terracotta Army was built to protect the emperor in his afterlife. The museum was established in 1975, a year after the discovery, and opened to the public in 1979.
Our camping group had the unique opportunity to explore this UNESCO World Heritage site, marveling at the thousands of individually crafted terracotta warriors, chariots, and horses. It’s a journey through time that showcases the rich history and artistic achievements of ancient China. Join us on this exciting adventure as we share our experience at the Terracotta Warriors Museum!
