It's funny the AI still asks why the researcher is hesitant while they forced this scenario on the world without consideration, their deity would be (re)born from so much murder and suffering it would put the scarlet king to shame
"As long as one drop of the oil exists, the joyous work continues."
Church of the Broken God read the S. D. Locke’s proposal of SCO-001 (When Day Breaks) and thought:
THAT!!!
WE NEED THAT BUT METAL!
I'm sorry but if you write your "engagement specialist" to be a moron who wanders off alone and dies in the first 10 minutes, I lose faith in your writing.
When Apollyon is “pretty simple” you really remember all the crazy SCPs read on this channel
Me: "Ah, finally done with a long day of work and uni, time to watch the new SCP video!"
90 minutes later: existential dread
Listening to This feels like an alternate take on SCP-217. Then I realized the number.
For all the terrible things in life sometimes, you get something good.
… peter watts? is that you??
An entity with a "redacted" appearance transforms into an entity with a "redacted" appearance.
For fuck's sakes…
This SCP kind of reminds me of the metal virus from the Sonic IDW comics
Every time I hear a church of the broken God story, my brain goes "the mechanicum astartes would like to know your location"
This feels like a great concept done by a bad writer. There are parts where I'm like "Why would you say it like that?" Like why would your boy say robot instead of machine. It sounds so weird. Or the tape at the end. It just not very well written at all. But your breakdown is really good and hits at the core ideas that make it interesting.
Sam Harris the SCP.
We got free will, we got AI running wild, we got questions about what it means to be human, we got religion ruining everything.
Amazing video as always. End of the article felt super lame tho as it boiled down to him convincing him to do mental gymnastics to get him to think what he wants
My Skin or Mice Kin
This one had some great science but really really shallow and cringey determinism philosophy dialogue at the end ruining the whole thing, I mean the dialogue as it was written, the delivery in this video is great. But I kept waiting for guy to pull on ahha on the religious zealots ramblings about life and evolution being a machine and how that makes what they did pointless and stupid and refutes everything they said at the start with such religious conviction. But no, just more silly "I am human and have free will because I know it" as if they had no idea what free will was. over and over. I want to shake the writer and yell "dude you're not deep for recently discovering determinism in your philosophy 101 class. Stick to chemistry and more basic science fiction, you're much better there."
That said you did this video well and I liled the audio recording effects. I just don't like the writing. Seemed a disappointing ending.
Man this story ended pretty mid
Philosophy 101 + fundation not doing anything except trusting one guy to splve the issue. Meh.
Wow, this was really interesting. Nice.
The fact that there are legends who can read long SCP articles and compile them into videos is just.. wonderful
I am once again asking for gamers against weed
yknow, if they didn't kill all of their type greens, turning them into reality anchors, and had a few loyal to the foundation working as researchers or in mtf squads odds are little problems like a self propagating iron zombie curse would be easier to solve with an army of reality benders.
Meanwhile on korbenick
"Wait why are we all here, I thought we were supposed to be integrated into the broken god? what is this place?"
"Hm? Nah dude you died, eaten by a self replicating iron anomaly."
"But what am i..no souls don't exist, mechanical determisim"
"Pfft, dude there were tons of ghosts on earth, hell that foundation place even had a soul extractor, the hell are you on about"
you don't recognize the black goo in the water
This SCP is basically if Cthulhu decided to weaponize Ice-Nine and it's amazing.
Thank you, Exploring, for these video essays focusing on some of the higher-concept SCPs instead of just another one on 682 or 049.
Towards the beginning: ooh, creepy and evil
Towards the middle, once the stuff is described like life: it just hungy, it doesn't know better 🙁
Sarkicists: creates SCP 610
Broken God worshippers: Write that down!
"Mechane was here" Written in metal and visible from orbit
This is kinda like sarkicism and the broken god came together
Decent explanation of why free will definitely isn't real. Good SCP, started a little slow though
