  1. Movies like these were VHS gold back in day. I truly believe limitation is what makes for true creativity. The ability to do so much with so little is what made for the greatests movies, videogames, and special effects. Production crews today have all the money and technology that crews thirty years ago wished they had but all it's done is stagnate that ingenuity and imagination.

  2. You summed up perfectly what is wrong with the film industry : Roger Corman tested the mettle of young budding directors by giving them little money and time and seeing what they could do with it to then be given big money and time – the way to get great cinema.

Give them too much money to not even make their own film .. how depressing.

  3. This still sounds like fun. I really want to check it out now! I gotta love monsters being made through animatronics! Something that movies lack nowadays. Also, John Carpenter adapting a Dead Space game would have been awesome to see! If he's really a fan of the games, I'm sure it would have turned out well! As for THIS Dead Space film, I'll definitely check it out!

  4. Small correction about Planet Bur. This is one of my favorite films since I first saw it in the 80s. The actual transliteration is 'Planeta Bur' with an extra A and soft R at the end. Because it's a transliteration, the 'Bur' is not the name of the planet but a plural of 'storms'. So it goes more like Planeta bur – Планета бурь – Planet of the Storms.

  5. That's interesting about Corman and others like him acting as a sort of training ground for up and comers. We really don't have anything quite like that anymore. It's basically the big leagues and the weirdo backyard filmmakers that put out stuff like Filthy McNasty. Not really much of a middle ground for people to get that needed experience. It's a shame.

  7. I've loved your videos for years, and have recently been checking out the episodes that I've missed. I just found out that you also like Bad Channels. Is there any chance that you're planning on covering it any time soon?

  8. I've worked on huge shows and tiny shows… and the tiny shows were always the most fun and rewarding. All the closest friendships I have made in the industry were forged in the kind of camaraderie that only the low-budget films can produce. Long live Roger Corman.

  9. Great job on this episode, Cecil. I saw "Dead Space" again just recently and I think it still holds up as a product of its time. Marc Singer was always fun to watch as an action hero and that was cool that you got a chance to meet him.

  10. Have you seen or reviewed Push Nevada? I love the channel and all the backstory – and have always wondered how Push Nevada was made and if someone won the prize at the end for solving the mystery. Thanks for considering! And thanks for your content!

  12. Very clever move to release this video a few day before the release of the remade Dead Space game. I was suprised to see it was about this little known Forbidden World remake, but ultimately pleasantly surprised. What I don't really see is a parallel between these Corman cheapos and Lawrence Of Arabia. I'd say they are opposites in regard to story, production and everything else.

  13. Good to know that Bryan Cranston acted for 20years before you could say he arguably became main stream in a recognizable way (Malcolm in the Middle 2000) and another 8yrs before his iconic and most memorable role in Breaking Bad.

  14. I remember my parents having this on VHS when I was a kid. I remember the box art for it. Honestly, when they announced a game called "Dead Space" I thought it was going to be set in the same universe.
