Wow what an insight great content Luke !👏 it looks and feels like a 1950’s works .!👏👏👏👏
hi Luke, great video, you are so lucky. its a great place, glad to see the london transport Sarah Siddons is being looked after, its a pity 73,101 is in a state, it used to look great in pullman colours.
Western nameplate on a 69 is like putting a Rolls Royce spirit of extasy on a Ford Escort
Great to see a old main works still in use. I was at Swindon Works years ago, loved the video
Great to see inside the different areas at Eastleigh.Thank you.
Absolutely Brilliant Luke, and my problem was solved straight away. It wasn’t a Belgian Shunter I saw, it was a German shunter. Cheviot 323-539-7. Well worth the wait though Luke once again a big thank you
I’ve been trying to count the ‘bloody hells’ and ‘Jesus’. Too many to count!!
Good to see round my old place of work. A lot different nowadays.
I was at Eastleigh a few days ago and I saw 69009 pulling some rolling stock into the works she looked great in her new livery
Brilliant video Luke. Fascinating look at what goes on there. Love the livery on 37409. 👍
Excellent video, excellent cause. Well worth this small token.
The TC set has already been out twice up to Norfolk and Fenland with 50008 and a guest locomotive. Very nice looking set
Hi Luke, another excellent video. Well done for getting permission to go around the works. I love the colour of 69009. Living in Bristol, I am old enough (and some more) to remember the Western Hydraulics in their heyday. They were a particular favourite class of mine, so top marks to GB Railfreight for this livery.
Thanks for the vlog loved it, nice to see so much stock in getting a second/third chance
No 37s in the workshop 😢
We need more 37s rebuilt
hi i am shor that was 73101 brighton evening argus so thats were it is. Hope it will still be the same when she come back into service. ?
great video
Did you see 47818
Yes, Brilliant
Seeing the 69 in the paint shop brought back some memories. I used to paint locomotives for a living. It’s the most satisfying thing a human being can do. It’s weeks of hard work , sanding , filling, primer ,more sanding, more priming ,more filling. But when you see the locomotive finished looking absolutely stunning. It’s worth all the effort.😊
Luke reminds me of a kid in a sweet shop!!Great vid thanks
Great video Luke! you are an excellent presenter 👌
Thanks
👌
Thanks Luke – very interesting vid. Last time I visited Eastleigh works was in steam days! I like the 69 livery – was a teenager when the class 52s were new in a variety of colours, but maroon was definitely the best, and it looks great on the 69. All the best from NZ, Marty
Whatever hoops you had to jump through Luke, were, I think, well worth it. Great episode and thoroughly interesting and enjoyable. I think Western Consort looks great. 73101 is almost as old as me and looks better. Ha Ha. 👍👍👍👍👍
very good duncan
very good duncan
That You to Arlington Fleet Services & GBRF I for one find videos like this very interesting as it gives you a insight as to how those brilliant paint jobs & the people who produce them I watched it with great interest
Nice to see 73101 still in reasoable shape. Whilst I realise that it may still be primarily scource of spares I hope that GB Railfreight do not lose sight the fact that it is the first JB 73 built and that it has a future ahead of it in a running condition.
fab video Luke how good does 69009 look lots of interesting things to see prodably one of your best yet
The team at Arlington are brilliant & the paint shops quality is exceptional final result, I have been around the works quite a few times as i am part of the team on 50021 Rodney & 50026 Indomitable.
Actually you have been around more of the works than i have but it amazes me the size of the place .

Superb and mega kudos to Arlington for permission
We really enjoyed the video, it was very enjoyable and very interesting 👍☺️
Fantastic video Luke. Well worth the wait. Bravo. 🙂
Wonderful to get access to a live works. Many thanks to Arlington for their generosity. How about a 69 in Golden Ochre? That might upset the purists? Great video all round.
Great video mate ……… somebody needs to tell that bloke to get his hands out of his pockets ……… if he trips over his nose will get flatened ……… the first thing i was told when i started work.
Kestrels livery for a 69 ?
Loved that! Reminded me of this wonderful thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKe1FdztHGM
I served my Apprenticeship at railways workshops ,which was fairly big, but those workshops are not only cleaner but are 5 times bigger! .
This place is massive. I went round Swindon when I was a teenager but Eastleigh seems to be larger. So glad it has been kept open for the purpose it was built for. I presume engines were built there once upon a time.
