  2. The L-Cluster is probably my personal favourite storyline in Stellaris, both because I find nanites a very interesting piece of technology, but also because the concept of a swarm of nanomachines getting bored and simulating the lives of the creators they killed to pass the time is a darkly hilarious one.

  3. That is funny I like conquering the Lgate and takeing over the cluster as it is a great spot to turrtle up with giga structers. and Ancient Cache of Technologies mods. As I can really turrtle up and take on most end game problems.

  4. Huh I didn't know there were other outcomes, I'm a cautious and peace through strength kinda empire so I figured they'd be trouble. Made sure to build up my fleets, conquere my neighbors and such then opened the gate with 2 100k fleets in system, got my paranoia validated and crushed the fleet that came through. They also had other fleets that went elsewhere (one into a vassal) so while 2 fleets did mop up through the galaxy i had three dive into the cluster and start capturing and bombarding everything while claiming every system I could. Eventually took it and about 100 years later it became my new capital sector. Nice to know there is some variations though

  5. Wait, wait wait wait; so, the Dessanu created the gateways, and were native to the L-Cluster. But, how did they get to the Galaxy to install the L-Gates and other Gates, if they couldn't leave the L-Cluster…? Cuz if they could do that, the Nanites could as well

  6. I remember having this one game years ago as a Hive Mind that got screwed over early because some idiot opened the L Gates way too early to the start of the game. I decided to bail on the run but before I did I used console commands to reveal the galaxy and I was like oh oh wow.

More than half of all the L Gates in that galaxy did not spawn scattered about but were clustered in one corner of the galaxy where my Hive Mind empire started. So even if I destroyed one fleet (and I definitely did not have the resources or fleet power to take on one), the others will be very nearby.

  7. My favourite empire was the Cevanti Shard, which I made to be the last remnant of the builders, and the entire purpose of the empire is to open the gate and then recolonize the L-Cluster, with habitats or otherwise.

  8. Me still playing on 3.4: what the heck is a paragon?

(I'm not dealing with the trouble of rebuilding my whole mod list to update to modern versions, if the change is small enough, I might go to 3.5 for cloaking but probably not much higher)

  9. Ahhh… Remember when the first time I opened the L-gate and the Gray greeted me. The second time I was the middle of the War in Heaven. I had the bright idea to open the L-gates and the Gray Tempest emerged. That day I learned the L-gate is a russian roulette.
