  1. I got my brothers '95 Mark VIII for free, California car, no rust, beautiful car, I am $3500 into repairs, $650 Pioneer head unit and $800.00 in storage fees and Illinois bend over fees. Inexpensive can sure be expensive but I still love the car. I love the V12 Jag the Wizard got, I can't wrap myself around those old Mercs, congrats on a V12, hopefully it gets sorted out for the 4k.

  2. The Klimatronic console is similar to a CLK W/A208.

A suggestion, with a plastic tool it is easy to pop out the button which will reveal a space for the red LED and the remaining structure (plastic) which presses on the tubular like button.
With the same plastic tool or another which will fit, attempt to press the button and see if the Klimatronic panel shows a higher temperature for the passenger. If it does then it's the plastic cover which broke.
Common to happen on these units and people tend to replace the whole unit for something which can have a quick and cheap repair – oppose to a good condition unit.
That's how I find my unit is working correctly but the physical plastic cover underneath the operational cover buttons (visible icons) is the failure point.
Possibly due to exposure of heat cycles from the firewall and interior temperatures.

Some LEDs might be dead and that I haven't fully disassembled the unit to confirm how to replace (probably solder).

Quite curious if the Wizard already knows a fix or was able to find if those plastic covers are replaceable (even if they aren't OEm – doubt Mercedes still has stock, or even if they had it produced as a replaceable part).

  3. Hi Hoovie, I was an engineer working at Jaguar at Browns Lane in the 1990’s. I can assure you that the walnut trim is 100% real in the wizards Jaguar. The wood trim was made on site at the Browns Lane wood shop. In fact if you look, the door trims they are matched for grain on both sides of the car. The leather seats in the Jaguar are from Connolly and made from Scandinavian cows because they have no barbed wire marks on the hide. The wood in the merc might well be faux…
